Siddharth greeted the woman politely, "Morning, Ms. Rajendran."
A faint smile curved her lips as she responded, her tone equally courteous but firm. "Please, call me Jyotika."
Jyotika Rajendran was no ordinary woman. At the age of 21, she had become the 6th woman to achieve the IAS rank. Sharp, witty, and unapologetically straightforward. She never hesitated to call out wrongdoing, no matter who was at fault. Impulsive too. Explains 15 Transfers in just seven years of service.
Despite everything, her record was nothing short of extraordinary. She had been a relentless force for justice, championing the rights of farmers and villagers, and fearlessly fighting for justice in five high-profile rape cases. Never the one to succumb for threats.
What made her even more remarkable was her lineage. A descendant of the powerful Chola dynasty, she belonged to one of the most influential royal families in South India. She holds the power to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the next instant she wished. Her father is just waiting for a word from her. Yet, she chose to serve public, being the IAS Officer she is.
Siddharth had already admired her for her work, but now, seeing her in person, his respect for her only deepened. She looked grounded, a trait, Siddharth developed to love. She was exactly the kind of ally he needed, strong, fearless, and unyielding in her commitment to what was right. It has been quite a task, to pull the strings and get her transferred to Kolkata. But Siddharth knew it pays off.
Siddharth nodded with a slight smile, obliging her request. "Jyotika, then. It's good to have you on board, Ma'am."
"Likewise, Sir", She replied, her tone polite, her expressions giving away nothing. She looked like she is gauging his demeanor, but Siddharth isn't sure. She is good at keeping straight face. It only amused him.
He smiled, "Call me Siddharth please."
She tried to interrupt, but Siddharth shook his head, "I know.. Protocol, etc, etc... But we'll be working closely, and you are a senior, in every sense, keeping our ranks aside. I'll be uncomfortable if address me, Sir. I prefer Siddharth."
Jyotika nodded, returning his favor. She slightly pushed the file she brought with her to him, "This is the list you asked, Siddharth. I nitpicked each one of them. And I've worked with most of them. They have my complete trust. If you cross check once, we can have them on board asap." She came to the point, straight.
Siddharth closed the file, making her slightly frown.
"Take care of the joining orders, yourself. This Wednesday, 2 days From now, Arrange a meeting with all of them." he said, before he pushed his personal file towards her, "Study this file once. Mujhe aapke inputs chahiye. Can I expect it tomorrow?" He asked.
"You don't want to cross check?" She asked.
Siddharth stared at her for good two seconds, "Yeah. That is what I meant. Now, can I get your inputs on this by tomorrow?" He asked, again.
Jyotika nodded before she took the file and walked out.
