chapter 1

"Yah! Y/N-ah, are you ready?" said the woman who shouted from downstairs. "Yeah, I'm coming!" Y/N shouted back. Y/N quickly grabbed her school bag and she ran downstairs as if there was no tomorrow. She didn't have breakfast because she was in such a hurry. Her mum does rush her, but that's only because she wants Y/N to get to school on time. "Bye!" said her mum before the girl rushed out the door.

It was currently 7:37am. Y/N had to get to school before 8:15am. She lived quite near to her school, but she also wanted to see her friend before class depending on their timetables for the day. Today, Y/N had English first period and it's not with her friend, so she wanted to see her before first period started.

Y/N heard her stomach growl. She immediately put her hand on top of her stomach to stop the noise. "If only I ate something..." she rolled her eyes. But then she thought it'd be better if she just got food from the canteen, she doesn't really enjoy the school food, but she doesn't wanna stay hungry.

Y/N is 17 years old, currently in 12th grade. She's just like every other person, she hates school. Absolutely hates it. But she's an average student, doesn't get the best grades, doesn't get the worst either. Her focus is mainly on dancing, she loves to dance.

-- 7:59am --

Y/N arrived to school after walking a long way. She plopped down on the nearest bench to rest her legs for a few seconds before getting back up. She was about to message her best friend Yerin, but then she heard someone call her name from behind.

"Y/N!" said the familiar voice. Y/N turned her head around and smiled once she saw her best friend. "Hey." Y/N simply said as she went to her side and they both started walking together. "Hi." Yerin said back and without realising they were both already walking to the canteen. They were both talking about stuff, you know what all friends talk about once they start a conversation. Y/N decided to get a drink only, knowing damn well her stomach would still growl but she didn't really care at this point. She paid for the drink and immediately took a sip of it. "This tastes really nice, why can't they make their food as good as this drink?" Y/N said to herself and Yerin laughed quietly. "But their food isn't even bad?" Yerin said and Y/N made a disgusted noise. "You're tastebuds are just different." Yerin snapped back and Y/N had a disgusted face this time.

-- 8:12am --

Y/N and Yerin had gone their separate ways. Yerin had maths, so she headed towards the maths department and Y/N was heading towards the English department. She quickly took a small mirror out of her bag to check her hair that she spent some time working on. It was looking all good, so that made her happy that she didn't have to fix it because her hair got frizzy easily. Her mood then changed once she saw one of the most popular heartthrobs in school, Jeno. He was with his friends, Jaemin and Haechan, who were also popular probably because they were friends with Jeno. Literally all the girls in school, crush over them. Y/N used to, but that changed when her and Jeno first interacted. It wasn't good.

"Yah. Watch where you're going next time." the boy said in his deep voice. Y/N's eyes widened when she saw who was talking to her. "Why are you staring at me like that?" he said as he laughed with his friends. Y/N's face flushed with embarrassment. "Sorry..." she said as she looked down. "Whatever." the boy said as he rolled his eyes and walked off, purposely bumping his shoulder with hers.

She didn't want her first interaction with Jeno to be like that. She was embarrassed. She really wanted to forget what happened with Jeno that day. So she washed her feelings away for Jeno. The feelings she once had for him were all gone.

Jeno was laughing with Jaemin and Haechan, Y/N was still a bit far from them, but she knew once she would walk near them, they would stop laughing and it would be dead silent. As she was getting nearer, the boys stopped laughing and walked separate ways. Oh shit. I have English with Jeno. Y/N suddenly remembered and now she was walking a bit behind him. They didn't notice her, so she was relieved about that. However, she did see Jeno looking over his shoulder, to confirm if someone was walking behind him because he heard the girls footsteps. She took her phone out to act like she was doing something. She decided to just walk fast past him, whilst looking at her phone, so she didn't have to see his face. No one knew this, not even Yerin, but after that day, she found it intimidating to look Jeno right in the eyes. Since her hair was open, her long black hair was blown by the wind luckily to cover her sides of her face. She managed to walk past him, she felt good after that.

-- 8:15am --

Everyone was entering the classroom, sitting down in their assigned seats. Y/N sat all the way in the back corner, she liked her seat. She sat down in her seat and took her bag off her shoulders. For some reason, her eyes kept glancing towards the door. Pft, he's probably gonna skip class again or be late on purpose, she thought. She took her book out of her bag and her pencil case, writing whatever the teacher put on the board in front of her. "Good morning, I'm going to take your attendance so no talking." she said and the whole class lowered their voices down, but of course they were gonna speak. Y/N was still writing whatever was on the board, the teacher was taking the attendance and just then Lee Jeno came through the door. He was two minutes late. Everyone's attention went to him, including Y/N's. "Why are you late Lee?" the teacher asked. Jeno ignored her and sat down in his seat. Most of the girls were crushing and fangirling just seeing him do that action because they found it 'hot'. The teacher sighed and just carried on doing the attendance. Jeno leaned back in his chair, he knew all the girls were crazy for him as they stared at him. He liked the thought of it, but didn't like when literally every girl would ask him out. That he found annoying. Meanwhile, Y/N was done writing and just stared at something random in front of her.

Jeno took his bag off and hung it behind his chair, causing him to turn his whole body around. He then took his book and pencil case out, but then accidently met eyes with Y/N as he was gonna turn back around. Shit! She didn't realise she was staring at Jeno, who sits right in front of her. She immediately fixed her gaze on her book and now her heart was beating fast. She felt Jeno's eyes piercing into her soul as she looked down at her book and then she felt him turn around. Oh my gosh, was all she could think of.

Everyone was quieter than how they were before as they were focused now. Y/N was already done writing what was on the board and just waited for the teacher to speak. She still couldn't stop thinking of how Jeno had the audacity to look at her like that. She did feel intimidated. Y/N looked around the classroom and saw the two desks of girls fangirling 'quietly' but obviously everyone could hear them. They were talking about not only Jeno, but Haechan and Jaemin. Y/N just looked at them with a slight disgusted face and just wanted them to shut up. "Can they just shush?" the boy next to Y/N whispered. It was her partner, a boy called Haeyeol. Y/N nodded her head and the boy smiled once he looked at her. 

"Yah, you four! Have you written what's on the board?" the teacher asked the girls who were now looking at her. The girls nodded and the teacher changed the slide.

-- 10:15am --

Y/N was dismissed from second period. It was break. She just had biology and now she was heading off to where her and Yerin meet up. Y/N was feeling more than happy that she was finally out of biology. She just can't stand science related stuff. She sat down on a bench waiting for Yerin. She pulled her phone out and played some games on it in the meantime.

Not even a minute passed by, Yerin was already making her way towards Y/N. "Y/N!" she said causing the girl to look up. Y/N smiled and put her phone away. "Finally. I was feeling so bored during those long two hours." Yerin said sitting next to Y/N, leaning her head back. Just then Y/N remembered what happened in english, it wasn't a big deal, but Y/N being the friend she is still wanted to tell Yerin.

"You know that jerk had the audacity to stare into my soul during English." Y/N said making Yerin confused, but then she caught on. "Really? What happened?" Yerin asked. "I was literally staring at something, but then once I got back into my senses I realised I was staring at Jeno!" the girl said a bit too loud, causing everyone around her to look at her, mainly the girls because they heard the name 'Jeno'. Y/N covered her mouth and grabbed Yerin's wrist to walk away.

"That's it?" asked Yerin. Y/N nodded feeling a bit embarrassed of what just happened. Yerin laughed quietly, because she noticed that Y/N had been talking about Jeno a bit too much lately just like how she used to when she liked him. Y/N then forgot to tell Yerin something. "Oh no, that's not it! When I knew I was staring at him, I quickly looked away and he stared at me for longer." she said in one breath causing Yerin to just laugh a bit. "You probably liked it..." Yerin mumbled quietly and luckily Y/N didn't hear.
