"Should I wear what my mum got me? I don't know! Help me out!" I said with panic, not knowing what to wear. I flipped the camera to show Yerin the outfit my mum got me as a gift.
"Ooh, it looks nice." she said as she bit on the tip of her nail, "Wear that!" she added on.
It was a plain white shirt with denim shorts and a chequered jacket that went along with it. It was simple, but cute and nice.
I flipped that camera back around, "Alright, I'll meet you in fifteen minutes- wait, are you about to leave?"
"Yes Y/N, I'm about to leave with my mum," she began, moving herself closer to the camera, "My mum was about to make my cousin come. I was like, no it's a friends birthday." she tsked and rolled her eyes after.
I chuckled, "That would've been fun wouldn't it?"
"Pft, yeah totally." she answered sarcastically whilst rolling her eyes again, making me laugh.
Then I realised that Yerin had never told me one thing, "What's his name anyways?" I asked with curiosity, seeing her flinch at the tone of my voice.
"Oh, his name is San. Why?"
"Nothing, it's just that you never told me befo-"
"Really?! I swear I did."
I shook my head at her, "Anyways, I'll change and see you in a bit."
"Naee!" she said contentedly before ending the call.
I threw my phone onto the soft duvet on my bed. Picking up the clothes, I headed into the bathroom to change.

I decided to make my hair in a half-up half-down since it looked pretty with the fit. I twirled the strands I left out in front with my index fingers before putting on a bit of mascara and lip gloss. I had all sorts of makeup sitting in the makeup bag my mum bought me for my last birthday, but I just never wanted to put it on. I wasn't the 'overdo it makeup' type of person. So I went with the signature mascara and lip gloss I'd put on for almost every special occasion.
I glanced at myself once more before heading out of my bedroom.
I pulled my phone out, finding Yerin's number to send a message.
"You look so pretty!" my mum said as she wiped down the counter. I looked up at her and sent a smile, "Thank you!"
"Remember to have fun! This is the first birthday you're celebrating without me." she said, throwing the cloth down and walking towards me.
She was right, this was the first birthday I was spending without her. I felt a bit sad inside, but I was planning on making it up to her.
I looked down at her as she stood in front of me, observing my face with a smile and cupping my face with her hands. Her eyes started to look glossy the more she looked into my eyes.
"Don't do anything bad, ok?" she muttered quietly and pat my head. I pressed my lips together and nodded.
"Of course eomma."
"I can't believe you're 18 now..." she said which made me break out a chuckle. She wiped her eyes and I pulled her into a hug.
"Go.. Yerin must be waiting!" she pulled out of the hug and gave me a push on the back to walk towards the door. She followed behind and I looked at her before making my way to the car that was parked in front.
"Looking nice birthday girl." was the first thing Yerin complimented me on. I laughed as I shut the car door, glancing at Yerin.
"Thank you, you're looking nice too."
