My hands shook as I walked into the station yard on mountain view road. What if they ask me where Tafari was on the night of the murder? I couldn't lie. Even if I tried to lie I know they would see right through me. I never lied well. Uncle Sam always said it. God, what should I do?

I opted to turn back then I heard someone shout my government name. "Staciann Wallace a you that?"

I sprung around. It was an officer. He had a helmet and a pocketbook in his hand. He grinned at me as though he knew me very well but I couldn't put a name to the face, besides I didn't know many officers. I'm not their biggest fan.

My heart pounded in my chest when he began to walk towards me. He was bow-legged and those were my weaknesses. A fine-ass bow-legged man could get me to eat from his palms any day. He was dark skinned too. Whew! The devil sure was loose today. His uniform hugged his perfectly sculpted body and I couldn't resist the urge to look down at the front of his pants. The last man I looked at like this was Tafari. Shit, Tafari! I snapped my finger as though I was willing myself back to my reality. Yes, I was here to see Tafari! I shook my head in an attempt to relieve my mind of the sinful lust.

As the man got closer he grinned and it revealed his flawlessly white teeth. "Oh Staciann you are still as fine as you were in High school" he ran his tongue over his bottom lip while his eyes hovered over my body. Then our eyes met, "maybe
even finer"

I couldn't recognize him.
I begged my brain to give me something but nothing came to mind.

"Hold on, Staciann you don't remember me?" He questioned, appearing puzzled as though I should have remembered him from somewhere.

I touch my chest as I was about to lie to save myself and this man any further embarrassment.
"I'm embarrassed" I admitted.
"You look familiar but I'm bad with names"

I didn't have the slightest clue who he was. Moreover, with the way he was looking at me, I'm convinced that if he continued he was bound to start salivating. I didn't want to know who he was either, everything about his appearance screams that any encounter with this male goddess was going to be bad news.

"A bobby man" he spoke up and grinned at me.
"We were in the same classes in High school"

"Midfielder bobby?"
"The girls them bobby?" I giggled as memories of him flooded my mind.

Shoot! How could I forget Bobby? Bobby always had a thing for me. We traveled home from school together a few times until one day he held my neck from the back and gave me an uninvited sloppy kiss. He ran off and I never saw him much at school after that. I always wondered where he was but I didn't ask.

"How have you been?" Bobby interrupted my thoughts.

I smiled shyly
"I'm doing ok"

"Why are you here?" he asked and peered into my eyes. It made me uncomfortable.

"I'm here to visit a friend"

"Who is your friend?"
"Which one of these officers is your boyfriend?" As the memories of my High school days reflect on my mind, I realized that he hasn't outgrown a trait that I found distasteful back then. Bobby was still inquisitive. Bobby still found comfort in acquiring personal information about people and he didn't care if you found it discomforting. I guess that's why he became an officer.

I shook my head
"I'm single Bobby"
Damn, I lied. Why did I lie? I wasn't into Bobby. I knew that for sure.

"Fa real?"
Bobby grinned, bit his bottom lip, gaped at me, and nodded.
"Can I take you for lunch then?"

"Why?" I nervously asked.

"I wanna know how much you've grown Princessa"
"Hold on, you still go by that name?"

I chuckled, no I blushed.
No one has called me that name in ages. I smiled and Bobby smiled too then he eyed my lips the same way he did when we were in high school. How could I have forgotten Bobby? I mean I wasn't into him but I loved the attention back then.

"Ok Bobby, we can have lunch" I finally agreed even though I knew this was all shades of wrong.
"Just let me go visit my friend and I'll meet you shortly.

Bobby nodded
"Ok Princessa"
"Meet you back here in 30 mins"

"Sure" I mumbled. Bobby kept smiling and it was contagious for I couldn't stop myself from smiling too. What could go wrong? We were old friends catching up, weren't we?

I turned and walked into the station building oblivious to the shaking of my hands and feet and the sweat breaking out on my forehead.

"Staciann Wallace here to see Damian Mcleod" My voice trembled as I spoke to the female constable at the front desk.

"Who are you to him mam?" she questioned without looking at me.

"A per... Personal friend" I mumbled, voice still trembling.

The constable looked up at me. She observed me with utter disgust. "What a nice girl like you doing with them trigger happy bwoy deh?"

"Brown!" she shouted to an officer in the back without waiting on me to respond.
"Send round Mcleod!"
She chuckled, "him woman weh em a boast bout come link fi him"
She gave off a dry laugh, "Weh you parents young lady?"
"Them know a them bwoy yah you a mix up with?"

Rage filled my cores. If I was any more fair-skinned she would have seen red markings on my face.

I walked from the desk and sat down.

She kept mumbling as I waited nervously to see Tafari.
"Bout personal friend"
"Want two kicks"
"Have a great mind fling you round a cell with him"
"Charge unuh jointly"
"Bout personal friend"

When Tafari walked out I sprung up from my seat. Tears build up in my eyes when I saw the bruises on his face.

"Nuh bother with it"
"Firm and strong B!" Tafari demanded.

I tried to pull myself together. He had life therefore there was still hope.

The constable looked from me to Tafari and sucked her teeth.
"Brown come monitor them two yah!"
"Me nah get paid enough fi this"
"Poppishow and him gang"

Tafari chuckled and shook her head.
"Drama eno" he pouted his mouth in her direction.
"Is a good fuck she want, nuh watch she B"

I knew I wasn't supposed to but I leaned forward and kissed him on his lips. His usually soft lips were parched and it saddened my heart.
"You alright?" I asked and studied his eyes.

He nodded.
"Me a gwaan normal man"
He winked at me.
"Dem nuh kill me you zimmi"
"Man deh yah same way"

"I didn't bring anything" I changed the subject.
"I didn't know if they would allow me to"

"That good B"
"You bring all I needed"

Officer Brown glanced in our direction
"5 more minutes bossy"

"Thank you" I mumbled to the officer.

"Yah thank him fah?" Tafari asked and knitted his brows.

"Chill please" I pleaded with him in a whisper. Tafari frowned and shook his head.
"Please chill!" I pleaded again.

"765?" Tafari mumbled.
At first, I didn't understand why he said the first 3 numbers of my phone number but in a split second, I understood.

"2134" I whispered. He must have forgotten to remainder.

Tafari cracked up and threw me an air kiss.
"My good hole intelligent rider"

I blushed.

"Time up bwoy!" The officer shouted.

I smooched Tafari on his parched lips one last time before the officer pulled him away. Tears build up in my eyes as I watched until he was out of sight.
