One of my many classes at Extension's Linbrook Center had just ended when I got a message from Kelvin asking if I wanted to hang out and discuss a few plays.
I nearly declined with everything that's been going on. I checked on Jules, and she had returned home safely.
Since his last text, which I received when Jules decided to fly to me with a guy I did not know, Adrian has not been in contact with me.
Immediately, I had a feeling that it had everything to do with Skylar.
Jules gave me a little insight into how she's transferred to another school to finish out her last year. Despite knowing that she was safe and well, I knew this had to be hard on my brother.
Skylar was his childhood friend, and he told her things that he never told Jules or me.
Then there was Vaughn.
I didn't tell my mother, nor did I say much to Vince. Communication was still a strain between us. I mean, we all had our moments, but talking to them like everything was normal was a lot. Hell, I can't even call Vince my dad.
Years of lies and secrets weren't going to fade with a snap of fingers.
The Petrovs were nowhere near being the perfect family.
Coming to a stop outside of a cafe, I looked down at my messages to see if it was the correct place. With confirmation, I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked inside. Skimming the cafe, I found Kelvin sitting at a table along with Lance.
Exhaling, I debated turning around. I was in no mood for Lance's bullshit. The guy always seemed annoyed with things and tended to take out whatever he's feeling on anyone.
But the moment Kelvin spotted me, I knew it was too late to back out now.
"Good," Kelvin smiles, the second I take a seat in the empty chair. "You made it."
"I almost didn't," I said, looking between Lance and Kelvin. Finally, I looked back at Kelvin with furrowed brows. "What's going on? I thought we were going to go over plays?"
"We are but there is something else that we got to talk about," Kelvin looks at Lance which causes me to do the same.
"I told you Kel," Lance shakes his head, slightly unimpressed. "Cody might not even want this."
What is he talking about?
"Which is why this is going to be a surprise." Kelvin disagrees before looking to me. "Cody turning twenty-one."
"So you're throwing him a party?" I raised a brow.
Kelvin takes out his phone and remarks, "Not just any party. Thee party. When you turn 21, you can do anything. Besides, we have to make the best of it considering this is my last year."
