I stood at Casseroya Lake's shore, watching the waves lapping against the sand. Pulling out my Rotom Phone and sent a text to Arven.Arven❣️
Me
Hey
Where are you? I'm at Casseroya rn
Waiting on you
Arven❣️
Don't worry, I'm on my way.
Wait, you're already there?
Me
Yea I've been here for a bit now
I think I see you
I squinted, trying to focus on the distant figure running towards me. He came into focus, and of course it was Arven. He had his hair tied up like how Lemon had done it, and he was bundled in warmer clothes.
I wish I had brought some warmer clothes.. It's chilly around the lake. I thought, shivering. "Heyyyyy Arven!" I waved excitedly.
He waved back, and stumbled in front of me. "Whew.. that was quite a run." he gasped.
I laughed. "You should join me on my runs. Really wakes you up in the morning, and clears your head."
Arven shrugged. "Running isn't my thing," After a brief pause, he added on to his statement. "...But maybe I'll give it a try."
I patted Arven on the shoulder. "Alright. You ready for this?" I held up Miraidon's Pokeball. "I'm 'fraid Miraidon's the only way we can get across the water."
Arven's expression tightened, and he shifted his gaze to the ground. "If that's our only way.."
I winced, remembering how (and why) Arven disliked- heck, maybe even hated- Miraidon. "We can find a different way there, we don't need-"
"No! No, no. I can handle it. Whatever it takes to get that Herba Mystica, eh?" he smiled weakly.
I nodded hesitantly. "Okie-dokie. Let's get movin', then!" I sent out Miraidon.
"Grruuww?" Miraidon chirped, nuzzling its head into me.
"Heyy! You're affectionate today, hugging Miraidon's neck. "We gotta get across this lake, bud."
"Alright, I guess we're doing this.." Arven muttered. He pulled himself onto Miraidon's back, settling himself onto the curve of its neck meeting its body.
I hoisted myself onto its back. "I take it you have your license?" I joked.
Arven laughed. "I like to think I'm a decent Cyclizar pilot. Miraidon shouldn't be too different. Let's go!"
Miraidon took off so quickly I almost fell off. Startled, I fell forward, holding onto Arven's back and leaning onto him. I felt him stiffen, but he didn't turn back to look at me.
The water sprayed into my face, and the wind pulled at my short hair. I looked out at the water and saw Dratini poking their heads out of the water, a Gyarados's fin poking through the water, following us from a distance. Some angry-looking Drednaw snapped at my feet, with some Chewtle sitting on top of Drednaw's shell, hissing at us. A large school of Tatsugiri swirled underneath the water, creating beautiful patterns that made my eyes hurt.
After a while of riding on the water, we rolled onto the island that the False Dragon Titan was.. supposedly. Arven hopped off Miraidon. As if it was a reflex, he turned and picked me up by my waist and set me on the ground. He did this with very little difficulty. Holy Arceus, this boy is so much stronger than he looks...!
He seemed to suddenly realize what he'd done, and he pulled his hands away from me. "S-sorry.. I-" he chewed on one of his fingernails anxiously. "Sorry."
I was still reeling from the feeling of his hands on my waist, but I shook my head. "Hey, it's fine! Let's look for the False Dragon, yeah?"
Arven nodded, his face still beet red. "Yeah. Let's."
After a few minutes of poking around, we didn't really find anything. I pushed some bushes around, and an orange Tatsugiri. It looked slightly bigger than the usual Tatsugiri, but it seemed hurt.
"Oh, hello there!" I reached my hand out toward it to move it out of the bushes.
Tatsugiri's eyes narrowed, and it darted into the water again. "Huh."
"Didja find anything Z?" Arven called out to me, rustling through the bushes. "I've got nothing."
My eyes scanned the spot where Tatsugiri had disappeared. A large shape, larger than anything that should be in this lake, started rising up. "Um.. Arven? I think I found the Titan..!"
Arven rushed over to my side, and watched in shock and astonishment as the largest Dondozo either of us had ever seen. "That Tatsugiri is gone."
The Dondozo roared- or, well, whatever noise a fish like that makes. I instinctively jumped in front of Arven so that I could take on Dondozo. "I got this! I- I got this!" I glanced back at Arven.
His eyes were wide, but he looked ready to take on Dondozo. "You got this, Z!"
I sent out Lemon, who made surprisingly quick work of Dondozo. It groaned eerily, and smashed a wall of rock. It opened its mouth, and the Tatsugiri from before swam out and darted into the cave. It came back with the glowing red Herba Mystica, and disappeared back into Dondozo's mouth.
A bright light erupted from Dondozo, and it seemed to be reanimated. "GWWAAAAARRRRGGG!"
Arven leapt to my side. "Let's take this Titan on together!"
I nodded, filled with determination. "Let's go!"
Arven sent out Greedant, and Lemon nyaw'd playfully at it. We took down Dondozo fairly quickly. As it slowly sank back into the watery depths, the Tatsugiri popped its head out of the water.
It did NOT look friendly, and was filled with the same strength the Dondozo had exerted.
I returned Lemon and sent out Azalea. Arven looked sheepish. "Maybe I should've brought some Dragon-type Pokémon!" He exclaimed.
Once again, we defeated Tatsugiri, who fled down into the water.
"We did it!" I smashed into Arven, giving him a hug. "We did it, we did it!"
After a moment, he hugged me back and spun me around, laughing. "We really did it!" He cried. "Z, I'm so glad we actually..!"
He set me down, his face flushed. He had tears in his eyes, and he was still laughing. "Let's go grab the Spicy Herba Mystica, and get Mabosstiff all healed up!"
