"This seems like the perfect spot for a picnic." I murmured to myself.
I swung my overstuffed backpack down onto the ground and pulled out my picnic set. Most kids in Uva Academy picnicked often, but I could never find the time. Between helping Cassiopeia with Team Star, taking on the gyms, and battling Nemona, (that was a quest in itself) I couldn't find alot of time to just make sandwiches and relax.
Sandwiches.. Whenever I thought of sandwiches, my mind immediately went to Arven. We'd taken on two of the strong Titan Pokemon, and every time we'd encountered the powerful Herba Mystica, which had magical healing properties.
Arven made the best sandwiches.
I finished setting up my picnic set, and I tossed my partner Pokemon's pokeball onto the ground. Out of this pokeball came my Meowscarada who I'd named Lemon, my first Pokemon ever. She shook herself, flicking a puff of glitter at my face.
"PFfuhh-! Hey, stop that! Where do you even get that stuff?" I gently shoved Lemon back, giggling.
She made a "Prrrruup!" noise, and neatly sat herself on the picnic bench.
"Now, for the main reason we're here today," I drummed my fingers on the table excitedly, and opened up the basket. "The sandwich making!"
Lemon cheered, throwing more of her mystery glitter into the air.
"You're gonna get glitter in the condiments- we can't have that!" I swatted her away from the table, and she skittered away.
Cracking my knuckles, I spread out the variety of condiments we had- avocado, vinegar, assorted meats, watercress, basil, onions.. We had so much to work with. "What're you feeling, Lem?"
She shrugged, not offering any worthwhile contribution to the conversation. "Yeah, I get it. You're a Pokemon, you don't talk."
I picked out some fillings for the sandwich- cheese, lettuce, Klawf sticks, avocado, basil- and grabbed some bread for the sandwich. "Let's get sandwichin'!"
After a few Arceus-awful attempts at putting an edible sandwich together, I was left surrounded by multiple scattered sandwiches. The one in front of me looked like a toppled mountain of green and various shades of meat colors. Multiple failed attempts at settling the bread on top of my sandwiches ended with the bread falling onto the dirt.
"Arrrrgghh!" I aggressively ran my fingers through my ash-pink hair.
"Z? What're you doing?"
I jolted up, spooked. I relaxed when I saw it was a familiar figure- one with long, ash-blond hair with darker streaks of gray. His eyes were gray-blue and full of concern. "Oh. Arven. What're you doing here?"
"Looking for the next Titan's den." He glanced at my sandwich, then at Lemon (who was asleep), then back at me. "Uh...Nice sandwich making?" he guessed, taking a seat next to me. "What happened?"
I scoffed. "A wild Lechonk messed up my sandwich and ran off with the bread." I lied sarcastically.
Arven's eyes moved over to the now-dirty bread that lay in the dirt. "Uhuh.." he thought for a moment. "Well, would you like some help making a new sandwich?"
I sighed. "Don't you have more important things to do? Like finding the next Titan's den?" I put my head in my hands.
"Well, yes.." he put his arm around my shoulders and raised my head to look him in the eyes. "But this is important."
Maybe he's just trying to make me feel better. I brushed that thought off, and forced a smile at him. "Ok then.."
He smiled back, and then a determined look settled over his face. "Let's make an epic sandwich!"
