As soon as we stepped into the research lab that hung over the Crater, it seemed to whirl to life. "Woah- I'm surprised this thing works!" Nemona exclaimed.
Penny shrugged. "That was me- I hacked into the system to turn everything on."
Nemona ran around the room, touching everything. "Hey, stop that!" Arven snapped at Nemona. "I don't know what here still works, but-"
Arven was cut off by a loud, robotic sounding voice from above. "Vvrrrrr..w-wel-wel-welcome- Welcome, children. Z, I see you've brought allies to assist you." Professor Turo's voice rang out.
"Uh.. yeah. I did."
"Excellent. Did you bring Miraidon with you?"
I shifted uncomfortably. "...yeah."
"Perfect. You will need to use Miraidon's gliding capabilities to make your way into Area Zero."
I glanced at my friends. "Will everyone fit?" I wondered out loud, thinking about how big Miraidon was. It had been a minute since I had more than just me on Miraidon's back.
"There's plenty of room." Arven chimed in. "Even when it was just us two, there was plenty of room for another two people."
I half-expected Professor Turo to acknowledge Arven. "...Good. When you're down, you will need to find four different research stations. Disable a lock in there. I'm currently in the deepest depths of Area Zero, locked in with four locks."
"Sweet!" Nemona exclaimed. "Let's get going, then!"
"I will see you when you get down here." Turo uttered. The sound of him disconnecting (discord sound effect) signaled that we were free to talk without him hearing.
"Well, where do we go to jump into the Crater?" Penny asked, walking forward. "It looks like a closed off-"
Right as she said that, the back wall started opening, revealing an overlooking view of the Crater. Clouds covered the Crater, and wind whipped into the room.
Suddenly, Miraidon burst out of its ball. "Mrrrrow!" It chirped, looking into the Crater. It seemed anxious to be there, and Arven chuckled slightly.
"Well, let's get going then? We've got a lot to go see." He hopped onto Miraidon's back.
Penny shrugged, and sat herself onto Miraidon. "My schedule is clear for the rest of the week." She muttered, pulling out her phone.
Nemona hopped onto Miraidon, beaming. "You have no idea how hyped I am for this!" She exclaimed. "It'll be so exciting seeing all the- woah-!"
Miraidon started anxiously stamping its feet, then it reared up onto its back legs. "Hhkk- Z! Hurry, get on!" Arven yelled, holding his hand out to me.
My mind caught up to the situation, and I stumbled forward, reaching for Arven's hand. Miraidon roared, and leapt off the edge...
...Right as I jumped to get onto it. For a split second, I was in the air falling. Before I had time to scream, Arven snatched my wrist. Immediately, it felt like my arm was being ripped out of its socket. I tried to grab onto Arven's arm with my other hand, but the force of the wind prevented me from doing so.
Somehow, Arven managed to pull me from flying through the air and onto the safety of Miraidon's back. My face whizzed past his, and I could've sworn he had a grin on his face. He planted me down on the Pokemon, with his hands on my hips.
"Don't worry- I gotcha, buddy." he whispered into my ear, his soft words almost ripped away by the wind.
Somehow, even in this life-threatening and incredibly risky situation, I still felt safe. I could hear Nemona shouting excitedly. I could hear when Penny started screaming, because it was when Miraidon shot downwards, picking up speed rapidly.
"I'M GOING TO DIE ON THIS POKEMON-!" she screamed, and I could hear Nemona laugh.
"Wooohooo!!"
That was the last thing I heard before we burst through the layer of clouds and finally saw what Area Zero looked like. I didn't get a good look before Miraidon crashed into the ground, knocking everyone off.
Everything hurt, and for a moment I couldn't move. I could hear Miraidon's frightened cries, then the sound of a Pokeball. "Z? Z!" Someone grabbed my shoulders and shook me. "Z, wake up! We're here!"
I opened my eyes, and was face-to-face with Nemona. "Good, you're alive."
"..why wouldn't I be?" I groaned, sitting up. I must reiterate that everything hurt. It hurt to sit up, move my arms, turn my head..
"I think you took some pretty bad damage there." Penny explained. She was examining her Rotom Phone, and she sighed. "The screen's cracked. It looks like Rotom is OK... for the most part."
Arven was staring into Area Zero- he had a dark look on his face, and he looked tense. I struggled to my feet and paced over to him. "You alright?"
Arven blinked, as if he was surprised. "Oh- erm, yeah. I'm alright." he murmured, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Should we start walking down? Look for a.. research station or.. Something?"
A stared down at Nemona and Penny, who appeared to be bickering. "That sounds like a plan!" I replied. "It looks like Area Zero kind of spirals downward, so we can walk down there I guess?"
Arven nodded, staring down. "Oi! Nemona, Penny! Let's get going. I'll lead the way."
A/N: Ok I know there have been alot of these A/Ns but I love getting comments lmao- So, what're your thoughts on this story so far? Any criticism? Anything you'd like to possibly see in future chapters?
Like I stated in my very first chapter/author's note, this story is purely me needing serotonin and something to fill the gaping hole in my emo heart. So, lots of the fluff is just for me. If the void in your heart is ALSO full, then my story-telling is doing something good.
I'll stop this here so I don't get very sappy, lol. Stay safe, drink water, eat something.. And have a good day! :D
