YUKITARO

I woke up with Inoya beside me. She looked different in her new bear outfit and had a big beaming face. "Do I get one of those?" I wondered. "That shall be your's if you catch it." She snatched a bag of my new clothes and almost ran out the door. I caught up.

She dodged left and right with her agile feet at high speed but the coat was not helping her getaway. I chased her for a while till she was exhausted. I pounced on her. We tumbled to the floor, and the bag rolled out of her reach. I seized it and grinned mischievously "I win". She looked towards the ceiling and burst out laughing. It spread like a virus. I found myself giggling. I haven't seen Inoya laugh before. I'm witnessing something rare.

I then checked my bag of clothes. All shirts are leaf colored but in different shades. My t-shirts were pistachio, jade, and Military pattern. I got pants made from cotton and thank god they are black. I wore the military one. I found a dark sleeveless coat at the bottom of the pile. Ishimi, thanks, dude I appreciated his sense of style.

Once I was done, I headed to Ishimi's room where Inoya said she would wait for me. Ishimi got himself the same outfit as me. I guess the shop only had these. "Now that we all can blend into the city crowd, let's continue." Ishimi gazed towards the window which overlooked this village. He had something in his mind.

"Where are we going exactly?" I invoked him. "Not here, young one. Eavesdropping is common." He cautiously proceeded to pay for our stay. We headed to the stables. There were animals from horses to donkeys to even Koris.

(NOTE TO THE READER: KORIS CAN BE MADE FROM MANY ELEMENTS. YUKITARO'S IS WATER. HERE IN THE EARTHEN LANDS, THEY ARE ROCK OR METAL BASED.)

There were other vehicles like chariots and things you can stand on which are not meant to be stood on like tables and wooden stools or even metal disks. We bought a chariot and hopped in: me and Inoya in the back, Ishimi in front. We dint get a horse, instead, Ishimi controlled the wheels, which were made from rocks. No wonder they used doors and bricks to skate on.

We got closer to the mainland's border. "The city covers an area of 49 Kilometers. Do not get lost here. Black merchants are looking for you." He pointed at Inoya and then at me.

We reached the border of the city.  Ishimi traded our chariot for more than what we paid. Now that is bargaining in action. I took mental notes but Im pretty sure they will stay as mental notes.

The city was overcrowded with buildings, people, and animals. All buildings were curved into 3 circles, all facing the palace of the king.

"The city is divided by barriers. There are three sections: The outer ring was for the markets, the middle was for houses and hotels and the inner circle was for the public buildings like the library, royal stable, court, and the royal palace." He explained. This is a common design in most kingdoms.

Just like the village, the building material was the same, but the structure looks monumental. It was breathtaking. The outer shell was filled with tradespeople and tourists. "Stay close. We have to make a stop at the middle circle before we go to the 'main' station. We will not enter the third circle or the king's palace." He cautiously breathed.

Ishimi rushed us out of the busy marketplace into the hushed living space. Past the golden gates, the only noises you will hear are the laughter of children and the chirping birds. We made a few turns and then reached a house just as grand as the rest.

Ishimi took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A woman opened it. She had Ishimi's brown hair opened behind her and a perplexed glance in her emerald eyes. She wore a blue long top and an apron around her waist. She squinted at us.

"Ishimi, is that you? Goodness knows what you need now." She did not sound old, just a bit disappointed. "Mother, as a humble man, I come for advice." Ishimi bowed. His mother just waved her hand in a circular motion. "You will explain why you are here. Are you just going to stand there?" She snapped.

We entered the house. The interior did not look like the interior of a house, more like a backyard garden. The roof was open, drowning the room with blindingly hot sunlight. Plants crawled up the walls and streamed outside.

From the living room, 5 passages lead into different rooms. The woman walked through one of them. The sofas looked tempting. "Make yourself comfortable." Ishimi sat leg upon leg in an armchair. I took to the couch. It was sturdy but comfortable.

The woman came back and served us green tea and gingerbread cookies. From the corner of my eye, I saw a few children peeking from the passages. The woman sat opposite Ishimi and stared dully into his eyes.

"Last time you came to my house is to bid me goodbye when you left for the air palace. What trouble have you brought upon us?" She said in the tone of a very strict parent, her eyes showed no interest.

"I know I've been reckless and never headed you, but please grant us your library. The prophecies are beginning to take form. I need your advice." Ishimi's worried tone brought goosebumps. Why was he worried?

The lady stood up and straightened her apron. "Only because I do not want the world to end so soon. I will let you stay so long as you follow my words." She made her way to one of the passages. She spun around on her heels and looked with neutral, cold eyes "Where is the child?" She barked. Ishimi stared at the floor. "Inoya is not here." He whispered. Then it hit me, she was not with us since we entered the living space.
