That One Summer || Jikook [COMPLETE]

Chapter 3

Jungkook has known Jimin his entire life and as a result he knew everything there was to know about Jimin. The house he grew up in, all his best friends (which included him), how he really felt about his dad. It was the same for him. Jimin knew the house that he grew up in. Jimin never knocked but always just walked in which was the same for him. A lot of times when he would come back from practice, he would find Jimin sitting there in his kitchen having spent hours talking with his mom.

They were each a fixture in each other's lives. That was the problem though. Jungkook was something so familiar that Jimin didn't even notice the way that Jungkook looked at him, wanted to love him.

Jungkook would literally do anything for Jimin. He would sell his soul, his guitar, all Jimin had to do was ask. He would even leave their small town and run away with Jimin if he asked him. Which in a way he was by attending the same university as him. All Jimin had to do was tell him what he wanted him to do, and he would do it. He would do anything for him.

It was why Jungkook didn't want to share a room with Jimin. But he knew that if he didn't Jimin would take it personally and their friends would want to know why. Jungkook hadn't told any of their shared best friends that he had feelings for Jimin. He didn't want them to feel that they had to choose between the two of them. And he knew sides would be taken. So Jungkook kept quiet and loved Jimin in silence.

It didn't matter the hopelessness he felt every time he looked at Jimin because the love he had for him outweighed it. The only thing that mattered to Jungkook was Jimin. Being there for Jimin. Because Jungkook couldn't remember a time in his life that he wasn't in love with Jimin. Sure, Jungkook knew that deep down it was unfair to himself, but it didn't matter. Again, only Jimin did.

As a result of that and his unprofessed love he found himself unpacking his duffel bag into the chest of drawers Jimin next to him doing the same. Jungkook remained quiet as he continued unpacking while Jimin talked about all the things that he wanted to do over the summer with all of them over the next couple of months voice excited. Jungkook finally finished unpacking, closed the drawer and turned to face Jimin. Jungkook felt himself smile when Jimin finally took a breath.

"What?" Jimin asked as Jungkook smiled across from him.

"Nothing." Jungkook answered. "Come on. Let's join the others. We need to make sure Namjoon doesn't destroy the kitchen. Again."

"Oh God." Jimin rolled off the bed onto his feet. "You're right. I'm so glad Yoongi will be going to the same university as him. At least I know he won't starve to death or live off of take out alone." Jimin giggled leaving their room.

Jungkook chuckled as he followed Jimin down the stairs. He laughed harder when he saw Jimin run to a stop in front of Namjoon, his arms spread widely as he approached the kitchen.

"You shall not pass!"

They all broke into laughter at the Lord of the Rings reference.

"I'm just getting water Jimin."

"Oh well." Jimin dropped his arms. "In that case. By all means."

"It's not like you can blame him. Besides we all know the reason your parents had to renovate the place." Seokjin teased.

Namjoon sighed as he set the pitcher of water down on the counter, "it's not like I intentionally set the place on fire."

They all laughed.

"Eh." Hoseok patted Namjoon's back. "Don't sweat it. The remodel is sweet. You did good."

"I didn't. You know what, never mind." Namjoon gave up defending himself by getting his water and leaving the kitchen back into one of the back bedrooms.

Jungkook joined Seokjin and Yoongi in the kitchen helping them make lunch for all of them. By the time they all sat down to eat everyone was unpacked and ready for their summer together to begin but Jungkook was anxious because later that night he knew he'd be sharing a bed with Jimin.
