Jungkook watched Jimin swim to the other side of the lake with his own frown Jimin getting smaller and smaller as he did until he pulled himself up onto the fishing dock that was on that side of the lake. Jungkook continued watching Jimin's figure in the distance lay down on his back against the dock's surface at the end of it. Jungkook the longer Jimin stayed over there began to worry.
"Hey." Yeji said as she sat down next to him on the log he was perched on.
"Hey." Jungkook automatically responded eyes still trained on Jimin off in the distance that was until he felt a hand wrap around his bicep.
Jungkook looked over at Yeji who smiled up at him coyly. She continued to smile at him as she withdrew her fingers from around his upper arm and dragged her index finger down his arm all the way to his wrist.
"What do you say to giving me a house tour?" She asked him as she looked up to meet his eyes. Jungkook stared at her as she leaned into his side. "Maybe show me your bedroom."
At her words Jungkook shot up from where he sat.
"I think there has been a misunderstanding." He spoke as he watched Yeji stand up as well.
"Is there?" She asked as she stepped into his space wrapping her arms around his neck like she had in the lake.
"Yes." Jungkook spoke immediately grabbing her wrists and unhooking her arms from around his neck. "I'm not interested."
"Oh please. We both know that isn't true. I've been all over you all day and not once did you push me away." Yeji huffed as she once again tried to get closer to him.
"Look. I'm only going to repeat myself once. I'm not interested no matter what you think. Besides, I'm gay."
"You're lying!" Yeji scoffed in disbelief.
"I'm not. I am gay. You can ask Jieun if you don't believe me." Jungkook reiterated as he watched Jieun walking towards them Yeji unaware of her doing so hoping Jieun could read his plea for help when he glanced at her catching her eye.
"What's going on?" Jieun asked causing Yeji to whirl around and face her.
"Is it true he is gay?" Yeji asked Jieun as soon as she was facing her.
"Yes." Jieun asked confused by Yeji's question. "Why does that matter?"
Yeji looked over her shoulder at Jungkook with obvious irritation which he knew was because of him rejecting her before she stomped off past Jieun without another word. They both watched Yeji trek back down to the lake and wade into the water. Jieun turned back and faced Jungkook.
"Let me guess. She hit on you and when you told her you were gay, she didn't believe you."
"How did you know?" Jungkook asked surprised that she knew exactly what happened.
"I'm sorry Jungkook. Yeji is used to getting whoever she wants when she wants. We'll leave." Jieun spoke frowning over her friend's behavior.
"No. You don't have to do that. Leave after dinner like you planned."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course." Jungkook smiled.
Jieun looked him over for any sign that he was unsure and found none.
"All right. If, you are sure?" Jieun asked again just to make sure.
"I am." Jungkook reaffirmed his previous statement not wanting Jieun and her other friends to leave on the account of a misunderstanding when they were having fun.
Jieun nodded and the two of them headed back towards the water. Jungkook once up to his waist dove into the lake's waters swimming past everyone including Yeji who still looked pissed at being rejected by him, but he didn't care. In that moment, the only thing he cared about was getting to the other side of the lake where Jimin was still laid out on top of the dock.
Jungkook closed the distance quickly despite its expanse and climbed up the ladder and onto the dock water puddling at his feet as he stood upright. Water continued to puddle around him as he walked the short distance to where Jimin was laid out at the end of the dock, legs hanging over the end of it bent at his knees. As Jungkook approached him Jimin didn't stir even as he sat down next to him. Jungkook's eyes drank in the sight of Jimin laid out in the sun. His chest rising and falling with each breath he took. His skin that still had remnants of his swim across the lake clinging to it. The way the sun made his honey-colored skin glow. Jimin was beautiful.
"Why are you here and not with your friends?" Jimin questioned suddenly.
Jungkook's head jerked in the opposite direction when Jimin spoke having thought he was asleep. Jungkook cleared his throat not answering him but asking his own question.
"Why are you way over here?"
"No one's missing me so what does it matter?"
"I missed you."
Jungkook glanced down at Jimin after he spoke to find that Jimin's eyes were opened and looking straight up at him from where he lay. The two of them stared at each other for what felt like eternity to Jungkook. Jimin's lips slowly bent into a smile that turned his eyes into crescents. It was the kind of smile that had Jungkook smiling back his own toothy bunny smile.
