Days after Jungkook had exchanged numbers with Jieun in the grocery store the two of them began texting back and forth. Jungkook found that he got along well with her. It was nice having a girl to talk with since Jungkook really didn't have any female friends. Jungkook was just awkward and usually didn't go out of his way to engage with people in general. He was the epitome of an introvert until he got to know someone. Jieun was the opposite of him that was for sure. Jungkook laughed out loud when he received her latest text which was a funny art meme.
"Who are you talking to?" Hoseok asked leaning over into Jungkook's space to see what he was laughing at.
"Oh, just Jieun." Jungkook said as he closed his phone and slipped it into his pocket.
"Jieun." Taehyung spoke waggling his eyebrows.
"It's not like that." Jungkook said with a roll of his eyes.
"It could be though." Jimin spoke up. "I mean she obviously likes you." Jimin finished not meeting Jungkook's eyes staring at his plate instead.
"Wait, how do you know Jieun?" Taehyung asked Jimin.
"I met her when I went to find Jungkook when we were leaving the store the other day." Jimin answered his voice quieter than normal.
Jungkook stared across that table at Jimin. Jimin had been acting distant from him ever since that day. The day he exchanged numbers with Jieun. Jungkook didn't understand why either.
"Could our Jungkookie be experiencing his first love?" Seokjin joked elbowing him to his side.
"No." Jungkook said immediately. "It's not like that. Besides, she knows that I am gay."
At Jungkook's comment Jimin finally looked up from his plate meeting his eyes. Jungkook stared at Jimin, his gaze unwavering as he spoke in his head that she also knows that I am in love with you. Jimin looked away after a moment. Jungkook cleared his throat and for the remainder of the meal focused on eating and left the table directly after announcing he was going to work on some sketches.
Jungkook when his feelings for Jimin became too much for him to handle the times when they felt like they were crushing him would turn to his art. His art was the only thing that could sidetrack him. His mind always went blank when he worked on his art because his focus was solely trained on it and it alone. Jungkook would lose large chunks of time when he sketched or painted. He usually had to set an alarm but being out here in the woods he didn't need to do that. He hadn't even realized that hours had slipped by as he painted the view of the lake from where he sat on the balcony his paints spread out around him. He was so absorbed in it that he hadn't even realized that he'd had an audience.
Jungkook hadn't heard Jimin enter their room or hear him lay down on the bed behind him as he watched Jungkook painting. By the time Jungkook had finished his painting it was late into the night. Jungkook stood up and stretched twisting his back to and from hearing it crack doing the same with his neck.
"Your art is always so beautiful." Jimin spoke from behind him. Jungkook startled and clutched his chest. Jimin giggled. "Sorry. Thought you knew I was here."
Jungkook shook his head no, "how long have you been here?"
Jimin sat up tucking one of his legs under his other and shrugged his shoulders, "not sure. Maybe an hour or so."
Jungkook looked at his phone it was after 11PM. He'd been painting for close to three hours. Jungkook repocketed his phone and turned around and began to clean all his paint supplies up.
"Jungkook." Jimin called behind him.
"Yeah." Jungkook replied while still cleaning up his art supplies.
"Have you ever liked anyone?"
Jungkook's movements halted, and he stopped breathing. Jungkook closed his eyes thankful that his back was to Jimin. Jungkook didn't know what to say. Did he lie or did he tell the truth? Jungkook decided on the truth.
"Yes." He responded quietly, barely above a whisper as he sat there unmoving.
Jungkook glanced at the sliding glass door finding Jimin's reflection in it. He could see that Jimin was staring at him. Jungkook's brow furrowed at the look on Jimin's face which almost looked sad. Jungkook stood up and turned to face Jimin who immediately looked down at his hands that were in his lap fidgeting something Jimin did when he was nervous.
"Why are you asking me this Jimin?" Jungkook asked cautiously his heart beating wildly.
Jimin didn't answer him instead Jimin laid down rolling over giving Jungkook his back and pulled the covers over himself. Jungkook stood there watching Jimin knowing that Jimin wasn't asleep but not in the mood to talk. So Jungkook turned back around and finished putting away his paints.
That night Jungkook slept on the couch.
