3 hours have passed and we still havent heard any news, I went and got one of the new car seats we had bought weeks ago, so we could put Eliza in it. I connected it to the stroller as I rocked it back and forth.
I soon hear a doctor call out our names as we go over to him as he takes us to an empty room.
once inside he explained to us the surgery went well, and Elliot is responding well to the medications, a huge relief flows over me and Stella as she collapses into me and I hug her tightly
"he seems to be doing well, would you like to see him, you should be fine to hold him now" we both look up and nod as he takes us to Elliot's room.
once we walk in we now see he is out of the incubator and in a normal cot, he is still hooked to multiple wires. I let stella go first as I lean on Elizas Stroller and look over at them. she takes a seat as the doctor carefully picks Elliot up and moves the wires around so they don't get tangled as he places the baby on Stellas chest.
I watch as she supports him with her hand, his whole body almost fitting in her hand as she closed her eyes trying to hold back her tears but failed as she let them fall.
"his stats are looking well, he appears to be breathing on his own, we would like to keep him overnight to keep an eye on him, but if all goes well, he should be home tomorrow" I hear the doctor say as Stella looks at me and smiles with tears still in her eyes. I pick Eliza up and go over to her as I place Eliza on her chest also
"look what you did, look at what you made." I tell Stella as she looks down at both of them, just as Eliza takes a hold of Elliots hand as they snuggle into each other clearly imitating how they would have been in the womb as me and Stella both smile at them as I place a hand on the side of Stella's face as she leans into it "you are one heck of a woman" I whisper to her as I kiss her.

the hospital agreed to let us stay the night, I rang Casey a while back to come collect Toby from the hospital nursery so he didn't have to stay here any longer.
we have just bathed both babies and decided to leave them in just their diapers, the doctor agreed to let us place Eliza and Elliot together in the cot as they seemed to unsettle wheneever they were apart, as I looked at them both holding hands it dawned on me that I never actually told anyone we was having the 3rd baby, I looked over at Stella looking over the crib and at the 2 babies
"did we ever actually tell anyone we were having 2 babies, as I only remember telling Seager the night you told me" I ask her wondering if she actually told anyone as Stella looks at me and thinks
"no I dont think so, I wanted to keep it from them to surprise them, I just told them that I was carrying a lot of water when they made a remark about my bigger bump" she says as I smile at her
"I didnt tell anyone either, so this will be a shocking surprise to them" I say taking a picture of the 2 babies in the cot who are still holding each others hands and send it to the groupchat, with the caption "Hello everyone, we would like to introduce to you Eliza Shay Severide and Elliot Kelly Severide...twins you say....just wait till you hear the story of how 1 became 2" I laughed as I sent the picture knowing the group chat is about to blow up with question and congratulations

my phone kept on pinging but I ignored it as I just stared at the sleeping babies. The hospital brought in a 2nd chair for me to sit on. both of them reclined so we could go to sleep.
Morning soon came around neither of us getting much sleep as the babies decided to wake for their bottles at staggered times. we thought we were tired with Toby, this is going to be a lot worse. but I definitely wont change it to have it any other way.
the doctors did their final checks on Elliot before announcing some good news, that they were happy to send him home.
we certainly didn't waste no time getting out of there as we placed them both into their car seats I ordered to carry them both as I didn't want Stella lifting anything heavy, I first took the bags out to the car before coming back for the babies.
I took a car seat in each hand as I kissed Stella "lets go home!" I say as she smiles and kisses me again as I walk ahead first heading towards the hospital exit. I told Stella to jump in the car as I got both the car seats in the car.
I felt my phone buzz as I got in and seen that it was stella posting in the group chat as I opened it to find a picture of me walking out the hospital with the 2 car seats with the caption "Here's the obligatory dad leaving the hospital photo, with not 1 but 2 babies, I need a wine, first one to bring me one gets first snuggles" I laugh as i read the caption as Brett sends a photo of her with a wine bottle say "on my way sistaaaaa" we both laugh at Bretts response as I start to drive home.

Stellas POV
we arrived home 5 minutes ago as Kelly placed the babies down in the centre of the living room, there was a knock on our door as kelly went and answered it as I heard a bunch of cheers from some very familiar voices. the voices got louder as they appeared from round the corner as I seen everyone from the firehouse pile into our living room
as the room filled with congratulations from everyone, who individually came over to hug me and congratulate us. I took toby from Brett as I took him over to see his little brother and little sister.
after a while, toby started to get cranky as he sat on the floor his eyes slowly closing wanting to go sleep, so I ask kelly to pick him up and take him to bed and he does just that.
as he returns down the stairs Crux looks at him "So, care to explain how you ended up with 2 kids, but are denying they are twins" I look at Kelly and smile "do you want to explain or me" I ask him as he shrugs
"I'll tell them the short answer and then you can explain" he says as he looks at everyone who was now staring at us "so it appears I have super sperm... Stella, explain" Kelly says passing everyones attention to me as he walks away laughing to get a drink
"Okay, so, they are technically not twins because they were conceived at separate times, Kelly got me pregnant with one, and by some miracle, 3 weeks later his 'super sperm' didn't give up as it had other plans to have one lucky bugger stick around, leaving me with 2 babies" I say as everyone looks at Kelly and he shrugs smugly as Brett turns to me "ive heard of that happening before, but its very very rare" all the lads go over to kelly and punch him in his arm playfully as they all find it very funny "could only happen to you severide" Casey says as they joke about.
the rest of the day was filled with everyone wanting to get a snuggle in with both babies.
