Graves always disliked Valentine's Day. He thinks it's a sickly sweet holiday, not to mention he envy's the people he sees when out in town. Seeing people show their love to their partners made him feel sick. He wanted that.

Graves always avoided going out during Valentine's Day, he thought maybe now that he was staying on the 141's base he wouldn't have to deal with all that lovey dovey bullshit. But oh was he wrong, his first week staying on the base, a few years ago, he had walked by prices office and overheard him on the phone being all romantic to what he had assumed to have been the captain's girlfriend, or wife. He assumed girlfriend since he'd never seen a ring on the man's ring finger. Or any of them at that.

Not to mention how he sees Rodolfo and Alejandro interact, he also noticed the plain gold ring that Alejandro had around the chain of his dog tags, and the beautiful gold ring with a small diamond on the middle of it that Rudy also had on his dog tags instead of on their fingers. It's obvious those are either wedding rings or promise rings. Either way everyone knew they were together. They both seemed to enjoy a bit of publicly displayed affection.

Graves hated the fact price had a partner. He'd had his eyes on the captain since the day he'd met the 141. Of course he knew he wouldn't have a chance with the man single or not, he didn't even know if the man liked other men. Probably not, most of the men he meets don't. He's always taken rejection terribly but oh well.

Maybe price will be different, probably not. Most likely not.

graves sat at alone on a bench in the mess, sipping his coffee as he waited for price to join him as he was asked to breakfast by the older man.

Graves was always awake before the rest of the 141, except for ghost in most cases, he rested his head in his palm as he huffed out a sigh and accepted that price wasn't showing up anytime soon.

That is until he saw the Brit walk out of the kitchen with a steaming hot cup of tea in hand, that same warm smile on his face as he approached the lonely table the commander was sat at.

"Not dozing off are ye, Phillip?" Price chuckled as he sat himself down on the bench across from the American. "Not at all John." He replied with a groan.

"What did you need to talk to me about, captain?" The American asked as he sat up and straightened his posterior and took another long sip of his coffee before returning the cup to its original place on the metal table.

"Ah, what day is it?" The Brit asked as a cheeky grin spread across his face.

What was he up to?

"The 14th of February I believe." Graves groaned once again at the thought of seeing couples out and about today. "Valentine's day." Price replied.

"What about it, sir?" Graves questioned.

"I wanted to ask you to diner tonight." Price replied.

Graves froze, a tint of pink flushed over his pale skin and he felt like his heart was beating out of his chest.

"W-What?" Graves choked on his own spit and cough out raspy gasps for a moment before returning to his frozen state once again.

"Would you like to go to diner with me tonight, Phillip?" The captain repeated while grinning.

"I would like that, yes sir." Graves repeated.

"Good, see you at [restaurant name] at 18:00." Price said before getting up and walking out of the mess hall, giving the commander a quick smirk and a wink.

Graves felt himself melt at the thought of going on a date with the captain, and on Valentine's Day? How fucking lucky could he get?

Wait.
