RAIN HIT NOAH'S FACE LIKE A WHIP as she hurried to catch up with Tess’ quick steps down the streets of the QZ. Her hood was doing shit for her, but she guessed she was using her hood as more of a hiding place than protection from the rain. Ellie was doing the same, but Noah was still not too sure why she had to hide. Her parents told her that people used to have something called umbrellas that stopped people getting wet in the rain, but since most factories were overrun at the start, the ones left were mostly used to make bullets or weapons. Which meant they were either stuck with a hood or a hat or just got used to wet hair.
Noah could feel the rain start to seep into her boots through the cracks in the soles, and it didn’t help that she kept stepping into puddles trying to keep up. Luckily, Tess made a sharp turn just down the street and she hurriedly ushered Noah and Ellie into the building, getting them out of the rain. The corridor was reminiscent of Noah’s apartment, but this was on the other side of the QZ, which meant it was an entirely different neighborhood.
Their wet footprints treaded across the wooden floorboards, and Tess continued on her warpath towards her and Joel’s apartment, stopping right at the end of the second floor corridor. She shoved the key into the lock, turning it quickly and then opening up the door, holding it open for Noah and Ellie. Noah went in first, not waiting another minute to be caught, but Ellie looked up at Joel first, and the man only glared at her, gesturing for her to move. However as soon as Ellie was in, Tess walked back out, beginning to close the door.
