While his friends were plotting Operation: Gaia, Sonic was chilling on top of the clocktower. It was one of his favorite spots in all of Spagonia, and since he could run fast again, he decided to take a run up to the top and chill for a little bit. The wind whipped his quills as he happily sighed. It had been so long since Sonic got to feel the fresh air on the surface world. The only things that he'd smelt was the smell of fire and rock from back in the Underground. The clocktower even brought back some memories too.

It's been forever since I've been up here.... with Chip, Sonic thought to himself. He decided to give his new bracelet a try, so he sat down on the ledge of the clocktower, and held it up to his mouth. "Chip? You there?" he said into it. The bracelet ended up glowing, and soon, Chip's voice was heard. "Sonic? Sonic! Is that you?" Chip asked. Sonic then laughed happily and replied, "Oh thank Chaos you picked up! I was gonna try my new bracelet to see if I could get you!" Soon, Sonic heard Lucius's voice as well. "Sonic! Hey man! I see you made it to the surface!" he said.

"Mhm! I did! I even turned back to normal!" Sonic then added. "That's great! I'm glad you're enjoying yourself up there!" Lucius continued. Then, Abyss piped in, happy to hear her master's voice over the bracelet. "Master Sonic!! I'm glad to hear from you again!" she said with excitement in her voice. Sonic laughed again. He loved hearing from his trio of godly friends. The ones that kept him company for three years underground. They almost felt like his second family asides from his friends in general. At the same time, Sonic felt safe with them. Mostly in a good way. Like how his friends would keep him safe sometimes too.

Sonic explained how his friends were looking for him since they found out that he was alive and not dead. The good thing was that they didn't know that he was Dark Gaia just yet. "I think they might be setting up a plan to try and bring me back from the Underground, but again, they don't know I basically became god of darkness and the main ruler of the Underground," Sonic said wrapping up the last part of his explanation. "You still need to keep it a secret Sonic. You still don't want your friends to think that you're the enemy," Lucius reminded him. "I've got it. Don't worry," Sonic replied. "Still, be careful Sonic," Chip piped in. "We miss you Master Sonic," Abyss said. "But you have fun as well!" Sonic, laughing, said, "I will! See you guys!"

After hanging up, the bracelet returned to its former state. Sonic still couldn't believe that the thing worked! It was a good way of communication, and it didn't burn up with his fire. It seemed like the fire was enchanted to not burn his body, since after all, he was Dark Gaia, and could do plenty of things, like controlling the spawn from below. The Sonic remembered the day that GUN came into his territory to film and research on it. Abyss had flown to the chamber room to warn him, so without hesitation, he turned into his lager form and attacked the agents. He even managed to disable the camera that one of the agents was holding with the footage. Well, not really. He didn't know that the video was posted on a news article.

You've been doing a better job at keeping your big form at bay, Abyss told Sonic once. Soon, you'll be able to not loose control of it as much. Then you won't be going on rampages a lot. The rampages part Sonic didn't really like. His head would usually hurt afterwards. In fact, Sonic was getting a headache just thinking about it. "Best not to think about those rampages," Sonic told himself. "I'd rather have a normal mind than a clouded one." He looked up at the sun above him, for it made him think of Chip's side of the Underground, where sometimes, instead of it looking like a night sky, the ceiling would sometimes look like a bright, blue sky with a sun beaming down on the underground forest.

His thoughts were interrupted by some badniks coming into the city. Sonic, smirking, couldn't wait for a battle, so he dashed off of the clocktower to have some fun. His friends were already fighting them off. Amy held and whacked her hammer high, Tails and Annabelle had their blasters, Knuckles, Rouge, and Blaze were all destroying and kicking the heck out of some, Silver used his telekinetic powers to levitate some and smash them onto the ground, and Shadow was using his chaos themed attacks to destroy most of them. "They're everywhere!" Annabelle screamed. "Not if we can take them down!" Amy shouted whacking another one. Sonic then stepped into the mix, smirking. "Now.... let's have some fun!" he shouted happily.

Annabelle couldn't believe who she was seeing as she watched Sonic dart across the badniks, destroying them all bit by bit. He spin dashed into the last one and posed as soon as it exploded behind him. "That.... was incredible," Knuckles said in shock. Shadow then stepped in as Sonic got up, back turned. "Who are you?! Why did you help us?!" he shouted at Sonic. "Oh? Don't recognize me? Long time no see Shadow," Sonic said as he turned around. We winked and gave a thumbs up to all of them, smiling. Tails and Amy gasped. Annabelle, who was getting very happy, said, "It's you! You really are alive!" Sonic nodded and said, "Yep! It's me! The one and only....." he did a backflip, and crossed his arms while finishing his sentence: "Sonic the Hedgehog!"

"I knew you were alive!" Amy said with a smile on her face. Shadow then shook Sonic's hand. "Good to have you back," he said. Sonic nodded with a smile. His friends then hugged him, all cheering happily for the return of Sonic the Hedgehog, Mobius's greatest hero!
