"Ugh! Shut. Up" I groaned reaching out to my alarm clock on the nightstand which I conveniently couldn't reach. I flailed my arm around in that general direction to smack it, which worked but also tipped it over the stand and onto the wooden floor where it shattered into pieces.

Fuck. Me.

I quickly got off the bed and knelt next to the broken clock and started cleaning it up.

My heartbeat picked up along with the pieces I was picking. I hope it hadn't woken anyone up. Or that... heh... would be bad.

I picked up the shards without cutting my finger or anything.

Ha! What did u think, I prick my finger and say owie or something?

"OWIE!" I looked at the sole of my foot which had a piece of glass sticking out of it.

Oh, the irony.

I sighed walking to the bathroom after dumping the shards in the bin. Great I'll be limping for today I guess.

I sat on the bathroom counter which a scary-looking tweezer and a wounded ego. I held the shard with the tweezer, closed my eyes and with one big breath pulled the damn thing out.

It wasn't that bad, I mean I dealt with pain a lot so I just decided to brush it off and took a quick bath.

I bandaged it up with a thick gauze so I didn't have to limp and applied some cooling, anti-inflammatory cream on my bruises.

Walking into the closet I looked for something that wouldn't suggest I was a nerd. Being bullied was the last thing I needed.

I decided on a cropped purple sweatshirt with a pair of black straight-cut jeans. It was basic but it worked.

After I covered the bruise on my cheek with a bit of color corrector and concealer, I ran down to make breakfast. I didn't want another bruise on my damn face for not waking up early and making food.

I decided to make pancakes. I mean who couldn't like pancakes right?

Wrong.

Apparently, mum wasn't in the mood for pancakes, so she threatened to break my nose if I didn't get out within 10 seconds.

That at least left me time to grab my car keys and run out the front door. I got into my Honda Civic which was also passed down from my brother and began the drive to school. It wasn't the best car but it was something.

I was also saving up for a car by doing part-time jobs. I loved cars ever since I was a child, it started with the appreciation of how cars looked, but now I appreciated them for their build.

As I drove past a turn within 5 miles of the school, I noticed a decent-looking café. I stopped to have some breakfast since I couldn't have any back at my house and I also had a little time before I had to get to school.

I drove into the parking lot and aced parking the car. Unsurprisingly. I had always been a good driver. It was a natural skill.

I walked into the café and it gave off a very homely feel. It put me at comfort way more than my actual house.

I decided to be the main character and pick the booth next to the huge window that overlooked the road. It wasn't much of a view, but it felt nice and weirdly cozy. It was a six-seater but I don't think the owner minded.

Looking through the menu I decided on the classic choice. Something I want, PANCAKES!

"Hey there, what can I get you?" a voice asked, I looked up and saw a very cute waiter shifting on his feet. He smelt like apple pie and I really appreciated that. That is what I'm gonna call him.

Apples.

"Oh, hello. Uh... can I get pancakes?" I said with a smile.

"And any drinks?" he asked further.

"Um... Hot chocolate. Definitely hot chocolate" I replied.

"Okay... Be right back" he replied walking away with his notepad. He held up with what he said. The order was done quickly since there weren't many customers.

Apples put my delicious-looking pancakes and hot chocolate on the table and proceeded to take a seat in front of me.

"Mind if I take a seat?" he asked with a grin.

"Well, you're already sitting so..." I said with a small blush.

What? He was cute.

"The name's Jake" he introduced himself tapping his pen on the table.

"I'm gonna call you apples" I replied with a dismissive shrug.

I heard him chuckle "Sure sweetheart".

"I'm Violet by the way" I said taking a bite of the pancakes "Holy shit! These taste so good!".

"Thank my aunt for those. She doesn't usually cook but seems like as soon as I mentioned a pretty girl... she was very interested" he replied just in time when we heard a stern voice yell "Jake get back to work before I put you in the dishwasher for a good wash". I could see his face getting paler.

"Aww! She sounds sweet" I say with a small laugh and proceed to stuff the delicious heavenliness into my mouth.

"Sure is. I better get back to work. I'll leave you to your food sweetheart" he said as he got up with a small grin, face still pale from the threat from his aunt.
