I'm not a communist, but I wrote this when listening to a documentary about the soviet union.

The fall of the Soviet Union did come,
Though it seemed ever so far away.
The Iron Curtain, it did succumb,
To the winds of change, on this fateful day.

The people rejoiced and the world was in shock,
At the suddenness of the fall.
The struggle for power, it did unlock,
A new age for us all.

The walls did come tumbling down,
As the people of the East were freed.
The path of freedom, it did abound,
For the people of the former USSR.

Now the Soviet Union is no more,
But its legacy still remains.
As we remember the days,
The joy of its once great reign.
