Loneliness doth haunt me like a ghost
That ever follows me where'er
I goIt makes me sigh and weep when I need most
To be of cheerful mind and spirit so

Patience doth instruct me like a friend
That ever counsels me to bide my time
It bids me hope and trust until the end
To be of constant faith and reason prime

Loneliness and patience both I know
They are my tutors in this mortal life
They teach me how to suffer and to grow
To be of noble soul and virtue rife

Loneliness and patience both I bless
They are my gifts from heaven's high address
