Betrayed and Broken

Haze's POV
I am so fucking happy right now. I finally got my girl. I am on cloud 9. Being inside her was like paradise. It was so much better than I ever imagined it would be. We walk outside holding hands, and it hits me. She is mine. She is my Luna, and everyone will know tonight. I smile, loving the idea of everyone knowing she is mine. As we are talking to Dave, Kail starts his shit. When he said she was his, it took everything I had to hold Dante back. Then that sneaky bitch Nicole came over, running her mouth. When she shot that flair into the night sky, I knew what was about to happen. I linked the pack and told them to take all the children, elderly and non- fighters to the shelters.

When Skylar shifted and ripped Nicole's throat out, I was so proud. Then I noticed all the warriors running our way. All warriors, be ready; we are under attack. I linked the pack. Luna runs straight toward the other wolves. I shift, and we follow her. When I look around, I see several silver wolves. What the fuck. We all start fighting. I have a wolf by the throat and another on my back. I snap the neck of the wolf I had by the throat. I turned to get the wolf off my back, but Luna was there ripping him off of me. She snapped his neck.

I look over and see that Kail is in trouble. He has three wolves on him. I run to him and start ripping into the wolves to get them off of him. No matter what has happened, he is still one of my best friends and my beta. He looked at me and nodded his thank you, and I nodded back my your welcome. After I help Kail, I run to assist Tyson, who is now a sliver wolf. Tyson and I take on seven wolves. I look for Skylar, and she has dead bodies lying around her. Luke and Danny are there with her, and they, too, are silver wolves.

I look around, and my pack is kicking ass; I'm so proud. There are bodies everywhere. We have been fighting for hours. We all have blood all over us. We are all worn out, but we can't give up. Luna has shifted back to Skylar, and Skylar is breaking necks and ripping hearts out. I take another look around and see my father fighting three wolves. I go over to him and pull a wolf off of his back. We start fighting, and he slashes me across my muzzle. I bite his shoulder and shake my head. I feel the bone in his shoulder break. When he howls in pain, I bite his neck and apply pressure till it breaks.

I was fighting a wolf when I a hot and sick, feeling hit me in my stomach. It stunned me for a second. The wolf I was fighting took advantage of my distraction and bit my shoulder. I growled and bit its hind leg. He yelped, giving me a chance to pull my shoulder out of his mouth and bite into his neck and snap it. I start to look around, and the wolves are beginning to retreat. "Skylar, are you ok?" I tried to link her but got no reply. "Skylar, can you hear me?" I link but get nothing. "Anyone have eyes on Skylar." I link my warriors. I get a lot of "no alpha" back. "Alpha, I saw her run into the forest after a wolf." Scott, one of my warriors, linked. "Why didn't you follow her?" I growl. "Beta Kail and Lewis followed her, so I continued to fight here," he replied.

"Lewis, can you hear me?" I try to link him. I get nothing. "Kail, can you hear me?". Again, I get nothing. "Which way did she run?" I link Scott. "I'm here, alpha. I'll show you, " he said as he came up behind me. We took off running to where Skylar was last seen. We come across several wolves on our way and take them out. I pick up her scent and follow it to the edge of the border. When I cross the border, there are two bodies on the ground. I run up to them. One is Lewis, and the other is Kail. Sky is nowhere to be seen. I'm frozen in place as the realization hits me. She is gone. She was taken again. This can't be happening again. I can't lose her, not now, not after finally making her mine.

"Alpha, Lewis is dead, and Kail is barely breathing." Scott says as he places his hands over Kail's ripped throat.  I grab Kail's hand. "Kail, stay with me. Please stay with me," I say with tears in my eyes. "Reid took her. I, I tried to stop them. Tell her I'm sorry and that I love her," he says between coughing up blood. "You hang on and tell her yourself," I reply as tears run down my face. "I, I'm sorry," he says as he squeezes my hand. "I really am. Do right by her. She deserves to be happy", he says as he starts gasping for air. I know he isn't going to make it. "I will, Kail I promise; I'll make sure she is happy. I'm so sorry for everything with Amber and now Skylar," I say as I let the tears flow from my eyes. "I love you, man", I tell him as I squeeze his hand back. "Love you too," he replies, then he closes his eyes. His breathing is shallow. I know he isn't going to make it to the hospital. I need the doctor now. I growl through the pack link. "Kail, come on, buddy, hang on. Doc is on his way. Kail, please don't die". I cry. "Alpha doc is here," Scott says as he places his hand on my shoulder.

Doc runs up to Kail. "Alpha, you need to let me see him," he says as he tries to pull me away from Kail. I didn't even realize I had my hands over his throat. I pulled my hands away and stepped back. "Come on, Kail, hang on, man, please. You can't die, Kail. I need my beta and best friend, " I cried. Doc was trying to patch his neck up so he could transport him to the hospital. I watched as Doc started doing CPR. "What happened?" I asked. "His heart stopped. I have no pulse," he says as he continues doing chest compressions. After a while, the doctor stops. "Why did you stop?" I growl. "Alpha, he is gone. There is nothing I can do, "he says as he bows his head. "I'm sorry, Alpha," Steve says as he bows his head. I fall to my knees at Kails' side.

I can't believe I just lost my best friend. This is all my fault. I haven't had a real conversation with my best friend in 2 years. I turned my back on him. I hurt him in the worst possible way. I stole his mate from him, and then I stole his chosen mate. I'm the worst friend ever. "Kail, I am so sorry for everything. I wish I could take it all back. Please forgive me. " I cry.

I allowed myself 2 minutes to cry over the loss of my best friend. Then I got into alpha mode. "Are there any prisoners?" I link. "Yes, Alpha, we have 3," Carl links back. "Take them to the cells. I'll be there shortly. Call a pack meeting now". I link Luke. "What's going on, Haze? Why can't I reach Skylar?" he links back. "Reid took her." I linked him. I hear several growls. "Dave and Scott, please gather some men and do a body count. Our loses go to the hospital, and their loses pile up in the back," I ordered through the link. "Yes, Alpha," they both reply. 

Fifteen minutes later, I am standing at the front of the dining hall. All remaining pack members are here. "I called this meeting to let you know Skylar Shaw is my mate and your Luna," I say as I point to my mark. Everyone starts to cheer. "I raise my hand up, stopping them from their cheering. "Alpha Reid has taken her," I stated.. The whole room erupts with ferocious growls. "I need able bodies to eat and rest. We will be going to get our Luna back, "I growled. "Yes, Alpha," every member of my pack replied.
