You can't just simply wait around. Those men could be lying for all you know. You couldn't simply risk going back to bed. Otherwise your bed will convert to a death bed. And that is something that you don't want to anticipate. Taking all your stuff with you, you ordered Jennie to get in the car while you spent the remainder of your time collecting your belongings. Accidentally dropping something, you turned around to pick it up. In a hurried state, you gathered all of the essentials and belongs as much as you possibly can. There's no telling whether that thing actually is inside or not. For as long as that thing is still out there, there is no way that you're coming back, protesting in fear of that thing visiting again.
Shortly after collecting all your things, you then scurried out the front door and locked it behind you. You then rushed towards your car, jumping into it as soon as possible, and threw the rest of your stuff into the back passenger seats. Starting up the engine, you pulled on the accelerator and took off. Some of the residents living here would probably be angry at you, but why should you care whenever there's a ten foot living thing wandering around the area?
It was beginning to rain when you got out onto the main road. It was terribly dark that you had to put your night lights on a bit extra to see an extra further into the darkness that lies ahead of you. Driving with caution, Jennie then interrupted the silence. "Where will we go?" she asked nervously. "Well, somewhere far away from here for now. Just until it is properly safe. I don't buy what those men were talking about." (Y/N) added. "Yeah... Yeah I was thinking the same thing myself, actually. I could sense that... there's something... dodgy concerning their... activity." Jennie theorized. "Yes. They talk like genuine people, but... yeah. like you said. Suspicions remain." (Y/N) added.
~45 minutes later~
(Y/N) pulled just outside a local petrol station. No one was working. Especially at this time of the morning. Who on earth would ever work at 4am in the morning? you thought to yourself. "I need a breather." Jennie spoke and got up out of the car. "So do I." (Y/N) added and emerged from the seat. The cusp of the heat of the car was shortly overtaken by the slight breeze of the foggy morning air that surrounds before you. The rain stopped. There was barely any wind blowing. All you could hear was the sounds of rustling bushes just ahead of you. You could see a glimpse of what appears to look like an iron bar or something connecting to something else just hidden out of view behind a tree. Looks like some sort of enclosure probably.
As you were busy taking a moment, the silence was then suddenly interrupted by a line of police cars racing down the road. "What the?" (Y/N) spoke. They looked as though they're heading up the road they're proceeding to follow. "Wonder what that is all about?" (Y/N) asked. "Don't know. Maybe we should follow them?" Jennie suggested. "You know what? Not a bad idea. Quick. Get back in the car!" (Y/N) exclaimed. Jennie followed suit and rushed towards your vehicle.
You quickly pulled out away from the petrol station and followed the route the police was heading. Ramping up the accelerator, you drove on as fast as you can to catch up. By the time you could even see their flashing lights, there seems to b an obstacle in the way. A chunky, large tree log must've fell earlier from the storm. But how the heck did the police manage to get through it? Did they-- wait a minute. There's a sideroad there to your left.
So you followed on through the small road to reconnect to the main one. It was not until at a later stage in which you can see the number of police cars pulled up on the side of the road, alongside with what appears to be detectives navigating through their different equipment. "Fuck. This looks serious." (Y/N) said as you were beginning to slow down. *gulp*
One of the officers then noticed you were slowly approaching. He came walking over to you and you pulled down your window. Excuse me ma'am. You can't stop here. You're going to have to proceed further." he instructed. "But... But why?" (Y/N) asked. *sigh* "We've had a call from a local witness to say that they had seen someone swimming in the nearby river. This was reported just over 34 minutes ago." "swimming in the river?" (Y/N) asked. "They had been seen a number of times roaming in the woods. The witness had said they had tried to catch up but the person had just kept walking on." the officer explained. "well maybe they're... lost?" Jennie answered. "Eventually, they saw the figure just walking into the river. But it was too difficult to see much from that point. And that is why we have our search team to inspect the local stream." the officer replied.
"But we can't allow the public to monitor or, what's a better word? uh... moderate the investigation. For the sole purposes of health and safety, we therefore restrict public viewing by law. I'm sorry ma'am, but you're gonna have to drive on." the officer spoke and went back over to the cop car. "What the fuck." (Y/N) spoke and slowly drove on.
