After that, Aonung had been acting strangely for the remainder of the evening.

Lia was not oblivious to his odd behavior. When they were with the group, he always stood between her and Luam, ensuring that she barely interacted with him.

Even though he did so in a nonchalant manner, she could tell that something was amiss. Upon returning from playing Simon Says with Tuk and the other children later that night, her suspicions were confirmed.

Waiting for her inside their Marui pod, Aonung sat on the swing chair he had built for Tuk and Aseya. As his eyes lit up at her presence, a brown blanket covered his lower body.

"Why were you gone for so long?"

"I was playing Simon says with Tuk and the little children," she chuckled as she approached him.

Taking her by the waist, Aonung embraced her with his arms. As a sweet gesture, he kissed her stomach.

"Can I play Simon says with you too?" He peered up at her with a playful smile.

"I already know your version of Simon says is going to be dirty," she scrunched her nose, eliciting a chuckle from him.

While moving away from him to untie the fire grill from the ceiling, she paused briefly, contemplating if she should try something.

"You know, Luam also said played with us," she said, eyeing his reaction. "The kids loved him. They thought it was hilarious when he couldn't rub his head and stomach at the same time."

His lips twitched in a frown. "Oh yeah? So you played Simon says with Luam, but you won't play with me?"

"I didn't play with him, I played with the children. He just happened to join," she rolled her eyes, placing the grill off to the side.

"Same difference," he scoffed. "So was he the reason why you took so long to come back to me? I see he kept you occupied."

As she stood up, she raised an eyebrow at him. The tone of his voice suddenly changed. Perhaps, it might not have been a good idea after all to tease him a little.

"Do my words just slip in your ear and out of the other? My Eywa, you and your selective hearing."

Aonung frowned as he leaned forward on the chair, the blanket falling slightly lower, revealing his perfectly sculpted v-line. This was the moment she realized he had been naked under the blanket the entire time.

She gulped at the sight of him, her eyes traveling from his body to his face.

"All I'm saying is that it's precisely because I grew up with Luam that I know what he's like. And because I know what he's like, I also know he's terrible at hiding his feelings for—"

"Shut up," she cut him off.

Aonung blinked at her in disbelief, his mouth agape.

"I—"

"Wanna go on a little adventure with me?" Her eyes flickered from his body to his face with excitement.

In response, he chuckled softly, raising an eyebrow at her. His grip on the blanket was interrupted when the curtain to their Marui pod opened.

"Lia!"

Tuk appeared with a leaf plate of herbs in her hand as he quickly pulled the blanket over his lower body.
