While she pondered his words, Lia was flabbergasted and lost in translation.
"Y-You don't need to respond. I'm not looking for an answer." Luam's worried expression turned into a sad smile. "I just wanted to let you know how I feel about you since I'll be leaving in a few days."
As bits and pieces of memories clicked together, she realized Aonung had lied to her. He might have lied about Luam's sexuality because he already knew of Luam's affection for her.
How could she have been so blind?
"Please, don't hate me." His voice cracked at the end. There was a bit of fear in his heart when he saw her reaction.
"If you don't mind, I would still like to be friends with you. I'll work on getting rid of these feelings, so you won't feel burdened." His eyes were hopeful as he gazed into hers.
Unsure of what to say, she was speechless.
"Anyway... I'll see you around, Lia." A small smile crept across his lips as he glanced at her one last time and walked away.
There was no point in lingering any longer. His message to her had been delivered. He felt unbearable pain when his heart broke, so it was time to call it a night.
Lia was left alone on the pier as she glanced at the necklace in her hand. In a way, she wished he hadn't told her at all.
Was it cruel of her to think of such things? Or maybe she pitied him because he fell in love with someone who already loved someone else?
Whatever the case, even if he erased his feelings for her, his words would remain in her mind.

Aonung's face went blank when he didn't see his lover at the table where he had last seen her.
After setting the cup of yovo juice on the table, he glanced around. However, she was nowhere to be found.
When he saw Ezaa approaching from a distance, he stifled his laughter. Still covered in Lia's vomit, she looked miserable.
"Aonung, you got a minute?"
"What's up?" He cleared his throat, appearing nonchalant while holding back his laughter.
"Um, there's something you should know." She peered up at him. "I was walking to my Marui to change when I saw Luam and Lia by the pier."
"Ah, so that's where she disappeared off to. I was looking for her just now." He nodded, finally understanding where his mate had gone off to.
But why did she leave with Luam to a secluded place?
"Um, well," Ezaa bit her lip nervously. "I wasn't sure if I should tell you but I thought you deserved to know since you're Lia's mate and Luam's your friend. He gave her a necklace."
The lines between his brows creased in confusion. Where was she going with this?
"Yeah, that's probably Lia's necklace. It broke the other day and I forgot to get it back from him."
