The two lovers had been flying in the sky on Ayela for a few minutes now, and Lia noticed that her mate was shaking his head constantly.

"What's wrong? Are you getting motion sickness?" She asked, looking behind her.

"No, I'm just gonna have nightmares for the next few nights, baby." Aonung shook his head again.

"Why? Did something hap—"

"Luam's gay." He said quickly, taking her by surprise. "But don't you ever have sleepovers with him, okay?"

"What?" She looked at him incredulously. "He is? I had no idea."

"Yup, 100% likes guys." He lied, nodding his head fervently.

"Um, okay." Despite looking at him strangely, she absorbed the information.

She thought it was weird how that information just came up out of nowhere. However, she left it be and didn't ask any questions.

Upon looking ahead, she noticed the beautiful sea wall terraces and the bioluminescence illuminating the landscape.

She disengaged her queue upon landing and hopped off Ayela, with Aonung following suit.

While she thanked her ikran with gentle head pats, he unbuckled the wooden picnic basket from around Ayela.

In gratitude, Aonung delivered a pat to Ayela's head as she nudged her head at his hand in response.

In a low tone of voice, he whispered, "Hey, do me a favor. Next time that ponytail guy comes close to you, bite off his head for me, will you?"

In response, Ayela let out a shriek as a playful smile spread across Aonung's lips. "Good girl."

"What are you doing?" Lia turned around, eyeing her mate suspiciously.

"Nothing. Just bonding with Ayela," he replied innocently.

"Hurry, the bread's going to get cold," she urged, ignoring his strange actions as he grasped her hands.

A while ago, he noticed that her neck was bare. Since it was already after eclipse, he assumed she had removed her necklace.

The lovers sat on a mini blanket underneath a sea of stars, enjoying a variety of food displayed before them. There was nothing Lia liked more than night picnics with Aonung.

Enjoying the alluring scenery of the glowing pools and savoring the flavors of the food, they basked in each other's presence.

As luck would have it, they were the only Metkayina in sight.

"A seashell for your thoughts?" Her lover's voice jolted her from her reverie.

"Hm?"

"What's wrong, baby? You've been sighing for a while now," he asked, drawing her closer to him.

As she rested her head on his shoulder, her eyes softened. Always observant, he took notice of everything around him.

"I talked with Netty. It just brought back some doubts that I've been struggling with for a while," she began. "I'm just a little scared knowing that the enemy is probably still out there looking for us."

After hearing her concerns, he held her hand and kissed it. "You have me. I'll make sure no one can hurt you. So, don't stress your pretty head about the future."

She smiled. "I know. It's just..."

She paused momentarily, lifting her head to look at him. "My brother said something that really opened my eyes. I mean, I've worried about this before, but it hasn't bothered me this much until now. It's not just my family's safety that I'm worried about. It's also yours, the clan... and our future family."
