(Avengers' Tower, Y/n's POV)
After the stand-off with Wanda, we went back through the Hydra base, and I kept Tin-Man near me at all times.
For the rest of my life, I'm going to have that fear that List is just going to appear again and take me away.
The base was completely destroyed. There were bodies everywhere, and it looked as though all computers and databases had been wiped. The rest of the group met us on the ship, and I was sat in a corner for the entire flight, silently wrapped in a blanket. I had Stark sat opposite me, but I couldn't bring myself to try and force a conversation.
Now we're back at the Avengers' Tower, and I'm currently sat in a medical room. I refused to have tubes and wires taped to me, but I've agreed to stay under observation as long as they don't lock the door, something that they thankfully allowed.
I got my first look in a mirror in five months, and I hated looking at myself. Pale, gaunt, hollow-faced, skeletal. Scars on my face and bruises that haven't yet healed. Guess my power extends to healing internal damage and leaves the external shit to mend naturally. Just what I always wanted.
I've tried to sleep, but I don't want to. Just in case. It'll be asleep one minute, then it'll be just my luck that I'll wake up in another Hydra base somewhere that no-one can find me. It's best to stay awake and on guard.
A knock on the door makes me jump.
"Hey kid, just me," he says as he sticks his head in.
"Hey Tin Man," I yawn and sit myself up. "You can come in, it's alright."
"How you feeling?" He asks, taking a seat on a stool.
"Been better, not gonna lie. How do I look?"
"Like shit."
"Ha, thanks."
We share a small smile, and I can tell he's not sure what to say next, so I take a peek in his head.
"You want to know what happened."
"No. Well, yeah. But only if you're comfortable talking about it. You know, whenever you're ready."
"It's fine. I'll just..... Tell you the stuff you need to know about."
"Listen, if it's-"
"I said it's fine," I snap, then feel instant regret when I see the look on his face. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't mean to."
"Hey, it's alright. Just take your time."
I nod and sigh. I don't want to be like this.
"He's making weapons. He's fixing up old ones and making new ones. The Leviathans, from New York, he's got 4 of them that I know about. He could have more, but he got me to fix 4 of them. I didn't want to, I swear I tried everything I could to make him stop, but I wasn't strong enough."
"It's okay. We're gonna take him down, no matter what, alright?"
"Alright. But I want to be the one to get him."
He shrugs, "The others might not like it but I think that's more than reasonable."
"I don't really care what the others think. They don't like me anyway."
"What makes you think that?"
"Am I wrong?"
"....... Eh. Rogers doesn't like you but he doesn't like anyone. Same goes for Thor."
"Where is he anyway?"
"No idea. Went off to Asgard and haven't heard from him since."
"He went to Asgard?"
"Yeah."
Oh shit. That means he probably knows by now.
Oh well. I'm sure Loki's handled it.
"Kid? You good?"
"Hmm? Yeah I'm fine. All good."
"You sure? Cause I can leave if you need to rest."
"No please don't go," I say quickly. "I don't want to be alone."
"Okay," he wheels his stool over to sit closer. "I'm not leaving you. I'm not going anywhere."
