(Avengers' Tower, Y/n's POV)
"Right, okay. Mhmm. Yeah alright, see you soon then. Okay. Yeah, bye," I hang up on the phone and turn to see Loki watching me.
"That was Romanoff. They're coming back. Banner's getting dropped off here, then we're going with Barton, Rogers and Romanoff to go after Ultron. Looks like we're stealing something from him."
"And what about your precious Tin Man?" He folds his arms, and I roll my eyes.
"He texted me earlier. He's heading to Norway to check in with NEXUS. He'll get back with us later."
"I see."
"Cool. We need to go suit up cause they're gonna be here soon."
He nods and makes some sort of noise of acknowledgement.
"What is it? What's wrong?"
"He worries about you a lot, doesn't he? Stark?"
"Uh, yeah I guess so. Does that bother you?" I ask as I start grabbing bits and pieces from around the room.
"A little."
"Why?" I grab two daggers and tuck them into my belt, then he grabs my wrist to stop me in front of him.
"Doesn't it seem odd to you?"
"Not really no. You worry about me, how is that any different?"
"Because it is."
Okay, I'm not going to get any straight answers from him, so I save time and look into his head.
"Oh my god. You're jealous."
"I am not jealous."
"Yeah. You are."
I grin as he scowls.
"Fine. Perhaps a little."
"Okay, I'm gonna put your mind at ease right now," I take his hands as I try to stop a laugh. "I think of Tony Stark as being like a dad to me. Alright? Yes, he's very protective of me. But I can promise you here and now, he is not protective because he's interested."
"Good. Because you're mine."
I bite the inside of my cheeks.
"See? I'm protective too. You don't need him.'
"He's protective. You're possessive."
"What's the difference?"
I can't help it, a laugh escapes before I can silence it, "Come on you. We need to go suit up."
He clicks his fingers, and familiar Asgardian leather spreads over his body.
"Fine. I need to go suit up. You can wait here."
"I can help-"
"Nope," I say as I let go of his hands and walk out the room, a smile still full on my face.
Never thought I'd see the great Loki Laufeyson, adopted son of Odin, rightful King of Asgard...... Jealous.
It's hilarious.
I can't wait to tell Tin Man.
But for now, preparing for battle.
I make my way to the armoury and grab two small blades that I can tuck into my boots, plus Romanoff's Black Widow bite things so she can grab them and go when she gets here.
Maybe I should take a gun too? Just in case? I don't wanna go overkill. I've got two daggers, two boot blades, I've got my power. I can leave the gun. Don't think I'll need it.
The smile is still wide on my face as I'm packing away the rest of the equipment, but it quickly falls when I turn back towards the door.
"No," I say coldly. "I'm will give you a chance to leave now. Believe me when I say I don't have the time for this shit. I suggest you turn around and leave. Now."
Why the fuck does Stark have to be right all the time?
I know there's a button in here somewhere. It sends an emergency alarm to the main room, I just have to find it.
"I'm not here to take you," Barnes says, face as neutral as ever.
"Then what? Kill me? Good luck with that."
"I am not here to kill you."
"Then what the fuck do you want? I'm not in the mood for this shit, so just tell me what you want, and go."
"I am here to deliver something."
"Deliver what?"
"A message."
The longer he's here, the more nervous I'm getting. I could look for the button, or I could call for help. Unfortunately, the quicker one is the riskier one.
"Don't scream."
"Why?"
"Don't scream," he says again.
The Barnes who tried to help me back at Hydra is gone. I don't know what they did to him, but they've got their claws deep in his mind.
I don't care about his warning. I don't have many other options right now.
"Loki!"
"You shouldn't have done that."
His face never changes as he pulls a knife from a sheath, the same knife he used on Tom and his children, and starts to advance towards me.
I pull my own daggers from my belt and we start to circle each other. No way I'm making the first move.
He lunges forwards, but I manage to step to the side to avoid his blade, and I instead swipe his arm with my own. It cuts through his sleeve, but doesn't seem to break skin.
"You can stop this," I say, trying to break through to him. "This isn't who you are. You've been brain washed."
"I'm here to deliver a message."
"Tell me. What is the message?"
"I am here to deliver a message."
"Tell me what the fucking message is then!"
He steps forwards and nicks me across the cheek with his knife, the familiar feeling of warm blood trickles down my face.
I throw one of my daggers at him, but he ducks to the side and it embeds itself in the wall behind him.
"I am here to deliver the message."
"Then deliver. The fucking. Message."
I focusing on channelling my electricity through my body to fire a short burst of it at him, but he takes the open moment to drive his knife through my shoulder.
I bring my good arm up, hoping that just the one is enough to form my electric shield, but I don't have the strength and it just gives him the perfect chance to cut that arm with the second blade he pulled out from his belt.
"Loki!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
"I am here to deliver a message."
"I don't give a fuck about your message," I spit out through gritted teeth as I fall onto my knees.
"I am here to deliver a message," he crouches in front of me, and presses some sort of metal device to my head.
There's a small beep, then a white-hot searing pain spreading throughout my entire body, and I have no control as my body starts to seize on the ground.
"The message has been successfully delivered."
