(Hydra, Y/n's POV)

I am absolutely exhausted. I don't know how long I was sat there for, crying like that, but I feel drained.

"You've done very well y/n, thank you," List smiles at me as he looks at some charts on a screen.

"What..... What did I do?"

"Nothing too drastic, don't you worry. You just gave us enough power to fix three, maybe even four, of these magnificent creations."

"No...." I lean my head back on the chair. "No I didn't mean to....."

"I know and I'm sorry. But you've been very helpful, and I hope you know how grateful I am."

"Go to hell."

"Well maybe one day. And I'm sure I'll see you there."

Damn. Doctor's got a backbone.

"You're a patronising asshole."

"And you need to learn to control your tongue. One of these days you'll say the wrong thing to the wrong person, and they might just," he withdraws a small scalpel from his pocket, "cut that tongue out."

My eyes widen ever so slightly.

Surely he wouldn't?

Though I guess after everything he's already done, he's more than capable of it. Even if he would get one of his stupid henchmen to do it for him.

Speaking of what he's done, I adjust myself in the chair and notice the absence of pain when my left leg moves. I guess I unintentionally fixed it whilst everything else was happening.

"Do you see now? Perhaps you're finally starting to understand your potential. I believe in you y/n, I really do. I think you could do amazing things, if only you believed in yourself the way I believe in you."

"You don't believe in me," I sigh and sag in the chair. "All you want is my power. You'll take as much of it as you need, you'll do whatever the fuck you want with me because you can, and then I'll be locked up either until you need me again or to just rot. Funnily enough, despite all this, I do believe in myself. I believe that there will be a day where I'm the one breaking your bones, sitting you in an electric chair, threatening to cut out parts of you. Your day will come, Doctor, and I for one can't wait."

A wicked grin spreads onto my face as he waves over his soldier.

"Mr. Barnes, please escort her to the room."

The stone-faced man walks to my side, "Yes sir. To which room?"

"The room."

I look up to him, "He means the little box room that he likes to lock me in as punishment. How long for this time Doc? Hmm? Three days? Five? Maybe even a whole week."

List ignores me and just addresses this other man, "Just get her out of my sight."

"Yes sir."

Barnes undoes the restraints around my wrists and ankles, and yanks me up by my forearm. Without another word to Doctor List, he pulls me from the room.

Am I meant to say something to him?

Maybe I should think of something really sarcastic and witty.

See if I can crack a smile.

"They are coming."

I very nearly trip over my own feet, "Excuse me."

"They are coming. Hold on, and stay out of trouble."

His facial expression never changes. Is this some sort of trick? Some lie from List to try and get me to escape again?

"Who is coming?"

"They are coming."

"Who are they?" I pull my arm free and face him, but he swiftly withdraws his gun and aims it at my face. There's a slight waver in his hand that wasn't there before.

"Alright, alright. I'm sorry. Here," I hold my arm back out for him, and it's seems as though there's a tiny breath of relief as he holsters his gun and takes hold of me again.

His face still doesn't change.

"Thank you. You need to stay here for a little bit longer. They are coming."

There's a few small beads of sweat dotting his forehead.

"Who?" I ask gently.

It's clearly a struggle, he's not meant to be saying this.

His teeth are now clenched together, but he manages to force out, "Tin Man."

Mr Barnes falls to the ground, unconscious.
