Two hours. It took two hours to do the bloody Muggle test. Renee had to guard the restroom like a rabid dog. It would've taken a Healer, at most, two minutes to conclude if she was pregnant or not. On top of all that, the test didn't even work. It came back inconclusive. Renee didn't understand how a test that's supposed to turn blue if positive, could turn purple. That's why she stood in St. Mungo's. Feeling quite out of place as the Healer talked to her. They quickly ushered her to an enclosed room, explaining how the charm works and how it will feel. She could still hear the buzzing around the rest of the floor. Healer's chatter and patient's groans. There was also a woman down the hall arguing about her diagnosis.

"You could just be stressed, Miss Potter. There's been a recent discovery that the woman's menstrual cycle can be altered by the amount of stress the woman is going through." The man explained, letting Ren sit on the bed. "We are going through some rough times. And you said you're an Auror in training—that could put some weight on your shoulders." He mentioned, grabbing his wand from his pocket. The lights in the room flickered, and the floor was suddenly silent. Red light flew past the door, causing both to shoot up. A masked figure peeked their head into the room.

"Avada Kedavra!" A green light hit the Healer. He fell instantly, a shocked expression painted on his face. Renee grabbed her wand, sending a knock-back jinx. She pulled the door closed again. Running scenarios through her head. She could apparate out of here and get help. Or she could hope the Aurors were already on their way.

"Okay, focus." Her wand pointed at the lock, "Colloportus." She uttered; thankful she could remember a first-year charm. "Okay." Renee pulled the Healer by his arms, struggling to sit him in the corner of the room. Quickly, she adjusted the bed, pushing it onto its side as a barrier. "Bombarda!" Her wand pointed at the wall from her hiding position. She hoped nobody innocent was on the other side of the explosion. The lights were completely out, the only thing lighting the hall was the flames.

"Ren?" The woman jumped into a duelling pose, her wand almost directly in the side of Fabian Prewett's neck. His hands flew up in surrender.

"Sorry, Fab, who's all here?" Renee backed away, lowering her weapon. He fixed his collar anxiously.

"Gideon is downstairs, Moody as well. Couldn't get a hold of a lot of us. Thought you were in hiding."

"I was here for a checkup. Someone came in and murdered my Healer. I jinxed them and locked myself in." The Prewett twin nodded, glancing into the room Renee exited from.

"You caused the explosion?"

"Had to get out somehow. Didn't want to be a sitting duck, as the Muggles would say." They looked at the damage around them. Bodies graced the floor in the reception area as well as further down the hall.

"Did you see who it was?" Renee looked down defeated, her wand moved swiftly through her fingers.

"No, I panicked. I should have dived into action. Ran after them." Fabian placed a hand on her shoulder, causing her to turn to him.

"You did the right thing. We could've easily lost you if you didn't."

"Fab! Oh, Renny. Didn't know you were here. Moody needs us outside." Fabian's other half appeared. The team of three rushed out, gathering with Mad-Eye in front of the hospital which presented itself as a run-down building. A dark cloud loomed over the rooftop. Renee squinted, noticing it move in an unsettling way. The cloud wasn't regular, it was more like smoke.

"The Dark Mark," Moody stated, stepping away from the younger people. "Potter!" Ren turned to her mentor. "I'll need a detailed report of what you saw. Not here though, let's go back to yours." She nodded, moving into an alley with him. They both apparated away.

"Well, I'm glad you're okay. I wonder what they were looking for." Dorcas stated, finishing her tea. She discarded the cup in the sink and joined Renee back at the table.

"Yeah, I'm not sure. It's been weird though. A lot of the Aurors have been injured recently." Ren watched as the woman next to her checked her watch for what seemed to be the fifth time within the last twenty minutes.

"How is that weird? You all work in a dangerous environment. Especially now." She was distracted, not fully grasping the conversation details. Barely looking up to meet her friend's eye.

"No, but it's like the Death Eaters know. Like we're being set up. Most of the people that died at St. Mungo's were Aurors. Save for the Healer I was talking to." For the first time since they sat at Dorcas' kitchen table, she seemed to clue in. Her head snapped up and she thought for a moment.

"But you're an Auror. Maybe they were going to kill you right after. They just didn't expect you to be ready to fight back." She sighed heavily, rubbing her temples to relieve tension, "I'm just so thankful for your quick thinking. And the fact that Marls is on that mission."

"Right, when will she come back?"

"Tomorrow, but she's been owling me every day while I'm on my break." Renee laughed, finally understanding why her friend was so preoccupied. "What?"

"Oh nothing, just you've checked your watch three hundred times, and you look like your mind is somewhere else. Now I know it's because you're a love-sick puppy." Dorcas shoved Ren's shoulder, laughing as well.

"It's not my fault I have to get back to work soon. And don't be jealous because of Marlene and my communication skills. Remus would be more than happy to talk with you about everything. Speaking of which, have you told him?" Renee followed Dorcas by getting up and throwing her jacket on. They walked to the door and quickly slipped outside.

"No, I haven't, there's nothing to tell. I don't even know for sure." The darker-skinned woman turned to her in disbelief.

"You're saying that the Healer didn't do the charm on you?"

"Unfortunately, the Healer was killed so soon during our appointment. I didn't even get the chance to tell him to ignore the Death Eater at the door."

"I guess that makes sense. You've got bad luck, Love. Maybe you should talk to Lily. She could check it out for you." Dorcas cast charms on the door, and they left the flat. The two walked down the street, only stopping once they reached the telephone box.

"I guess, but I don't want to be a pest. They've got Harry to worry about."

"Gives you an excuse to go over there. And Lily's trained to do it. She won't mind." Dorcas gave a kiss to Renee's cheek before stepping into the box. "Owl her!"

Renee didn't want to Owl Lily about this. Sure, she would understand the hesitation and her feelings but her brother would likely be there. James could not know about this. Given his history with Ren's secrets, there was no possibility that he could keep it to himself. One conversation with Remus and he'd know. James was never good at hiding things. Especially something like this. He would get too excited. Ren exhaled deeply and pulled her wand from her pocket.

"Oh, hey Renny! We weren't expecting you." James stated, a burping towel hanging from his shoulder.

"Hey Jamie, where's Lils?"
