Remus looked to Renee. She lay on the bed wrapped in navy-coloured sheets. Their house was dimly lit; the flicker of a candle and the moon being the only source of light. The werewolf sat down next to her, hugging her body tight to his. Ren let out a small giggle and pushed him away, teasingly.

"Rem, you have to be careful. The baby doesn't like to be crowded." He laughed, placing a chaste kiss on her forehead.

"Sorry love, and little love." He whispered to her bare stomach. Exquisite—that's how he will forever describe his wife. The love of his life carrying his child. Remus never thought it would ever happen. Especially since she was dead for twelve years.

"Could you close the curtains and blow out the candle?" Renee asked as she squirmed around to get comfortable. He nodded, letting one breath darken the room immensely. It grew cold. Remus noted the window had been open and he glanced back at his wife with a confused look. She lay on the bed rubbing her stomach affectionately. He let the confusion slide, Renee didn't seem too bothered by the cool breeze. Still, he gripped the bottom of the window, pulling it down. Lupin stopped in his tracks, staring out at the night sky. A faint howl was heard from the forest around their house. The moon grew at an eerie rate. Going from a waning crescent to a full moon within seconds. He watched the treeline intently. Spotting a figure slowly creep out on all fours. As it came closer he knew. Remus had never seen his werewolf form. But the scent overwhelmed him with familiarity. He just knew.

"Rem, come to bed." She whispered, patting the space beside her. He scrambled toward her.

"Ren, we have to go." Renee shook her head and stood. Dragging the sheet with her to the window. She gripped the drape and stared out. "Get away from there." He demanded, pulling her to his chest. She hugged him back.

"Let's go."

"Let me find my wand." He searched with haste, checking every drawer, finally finding it under his pillow. "Renee?" Remus turned around to an empty room. He found himself at the window within seconds. Renee stood before the wolf. She was now fully clothed and her hand reached out as if she was trying to befriend a dog. The wolf stood on its hind legs. Now towering over the woman. Its paw raised above its head and swiped into her body. The blow sent her flying.

Remus shot up in a bed. His breath was rapid. Sweat drenched his clothing. It wasn't his clothing. He glanced around, recognizing the Hospital Wing. He almost didn't notice the woman at the end of his bed. She was sitting on a chair but her body was bent over so that her torso was draped over his legs. He looked over at the other beds, noting Ron Weasley occupied one. Both Harry and Hermione seemed to be sleeping exactly like Renee was.

"I told her she needed to stay in her bed." Madam Pomfrey's voice whispered as she walked towards him. Remus tore his eyes off the woman at his feet to look at the nurse. He looked back down in concern.

"Is she hurt?" His voice came out strained. No need to ask why. Howling does that to the vocal cords.

"She got a couple of scratches, but I must admit she is doing better than I thought she was." Poppy wouldn't tell him about the screams Renee had let out during the healing process. But she was overwhelmed with happiness that she was alive all this time.

"Are we good to go?" Renee asked, her cheek still pressed against the blanket.

"Yes, you may leave. Try not to be seen, Miss Potter." Albus Dumbledore stood in the doorway. He watched intently as the couple leant on each other as they brushed past him. They didn't utter a word on the way to Remus' bed chambers.

"I'm fine." She chuckled, placing her hands on his chest. He gently grazed the hem of her shirt. Before he could lift it to see she placed her lips against his own. He couldn't help but forget about the scratches for a moment. The undying feeling of love overwhelmed both adults. They didn't pull apart until they were out of breath. Renee stared up at him, her breath hitting his face. He gave her one last peck and lifted her shirt. It was well bandaged, he didn't know the damage. "I told you, I'm fine. Poppy fixed me up. These are just fail-safe."

"I love you," Remus uttered, dropping the shirt and letting his hand go to the back of her head. "I've never once stopped thinking of you. You've always been it for me." Renee let out a long breath.

"What are we going to do? We haven't been together for twelve years, Remus. Even before we were all over the place. I wasn't ready and then you were doubting yourself." Her voice came out soft, eyes searching his own. His thoughts briefly went back to his nightmare but he shook them out.

"We can make up the twelve years. I'm ready for whatever you want. Whether it's getting married or having kids. I'm ready for it all. If you're ready."

"I did say that when you got back we'd get married." Renee smiled faintly.

"I would love to be married to you finally." He gripped her head and pulled her up while leaning down to meet her. She whimpered while they kissed deeply.

"I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you—" Remus pulled away from her, stopping her repetition.

"What are you doing?" He laughed, leaning his forehead against her own.

"Saying it for each year." She paused and then continued. "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you."

"How did I get so lucky?" Renee took it upon herself to connect their lips again. She pulled away once again.

"Some idiot decided everyone had to be his friend." Remus suddenly left her presence, digging deep in his trunk. He pulled out a vine wand presenting to the woman. She took it graciously. "Fuck, I love you so much."

"Ditto." Renee pushed him, running to the bed and throwing a pillow at the man. He laughed as it fell from his face.
