THINGS WE NEVER UNDERSTOOD

Riya arrived at the meeting place after Aryan and ajith ditched her. She scanned the whole hotel and then found them sitting with their client at a table. She went to them.

"How could you be late even after I told you how important this is" Aryan said to her as soon as she came in his view. She gaped at him, he had the audacity to lie after ditching her there.

"I was late, seriously.." Riya was about to say when he cut her off.

"Just give me the file" he said dismissively and she gave him but not before killing him twice in her head.

"So,any more doubts about the agreement"aryan asked and the client said no. Riya explained every line to him before signing it. She thanked all the gods because she was so good at doing this and it was only because of the prior preparation she had done.

"But I have a question, what is the CAGR of your shares, if you want me to invest in you, it is the least I have to know" the client asked Aryan and Aryan asked Riya to answer him.

"What, oh let me look through the agreement and tell you. One second" she said and flipped through all the documents and papers she had. Everyone watched riya as she was helplessly trying to find the answer that doesn't exist in those documents.

"Riya tell them the CAGR of our company" Aryan said grunting his teeth in irritation. It was a simple thing that even a college student could answer but she couldn't.

"I didn't know you had such illiterate employees" the client mocked at Aryan and he glared at Riya for her incompetency.

"Sir the CAGR of our company is 18% which is more than all the companies combined in the industry" Ajith came to the help. He continued with his talk while Aryan was still glaring at her.

"Get out" Aryan whisper yelled to riya. She followed his order and waited outside the hotel.

They were out within ten minutes and from the looks of it, it seemed like the deal was done. But Aryan was still furious on riya for the act she pulled.

Riya thought it would be better to apologize than to fight with him.

"Sir, I am so sorry, I didn't know that.."

"In my office" he said not even glancing at her and went away with ajith.

Riya started her car and did as he ordered but scared for her life. She had insulted him knowingly or unknowingly but it did hurt his ego.
She knocked on his door and he said a faint come in which she followed like a good employee.

"Tell me one reason why I shouldn't dismiss you" Aryan said as soon as she went in not even asking her to sit.

"Sir, I am really sorry, It was a mistake on my side I totally agree. But please don't dismiss me" she begged him.

"Of course it was your mistake. Tell me. You don't know what a CAGR is, seriously who even gave you this job" he yelled at her and she stood there helpless.

"It won't happen again.please" these were the only words she kept on saying from the start.

"Okay then you may go" he said and she looked at him not trusting her ears. Did he really say those words she thought, she expected him to be more violent but this was totally opposite.
Riya didn't waste a single second in reaching the door to go out.

"But before that" he said and riya was scared again.

"Give me that file please" he said pointing to the one file present at his shelf. Riya was taken back again, that's it she can go after giving that stupid file to his stupid self.
