YOU DIDN'T SEE Levi in the infirmary after that day. Though your other friends came to visit often (especially Hange, who could keep you entertained for hours), you couldn't help but wonder why Levi didn't come back around again.
You made a note to ask him once you were out of there.
Thankfully, you were only in the infirmary for about a week.
The rest of the healing process would take much longer.
You had a nasty limp and stitches in your right leg, along with a still-broken shoulder— and you spent much of your first day out of the infirmary resting in the barracks.
You only really got to speak to anyone as they came in and out.
That, however, wasn't to say your friends were any less excited to see you.
You narrowly slept through lunch but woke up when the door to the barracks creaked open. You squinted as you glanced at the door, the bar of sunlight contrasting the dark room where you slept. All you could make out was a silhouette for a moment.
"Sorry, [Y/N]. I didn't mean to wake you. Though— it's probably good for you to eat if you want to get better."
The door closed, revealing that Hange was the one speaking. She carried a tray, balancing a bowl of soup, some bread, and a cup of water.
"Thanks, Hange," you said, wiping the sleep from your eyes. You used your left hand to push yourself up, resting your back against the wall.
"You're welcome," she nodded. She carefully set the tray on your lap before sitting on the edge of your bed. "Any better?"
You shrugged but nodded.
"I think so," you said. You were still in pain, and even though it lingered, it felt more sore than searing. You glanced down at your leg. "You think it'll leave a cool scar?"
"Yes," Hange said as though she'd already thought about it. "Most people don't survive meeting a titan— so it's a cool scar with a cool story."
"Thanks," you chuckled. You didn't like to recall the story behind it (that was most definitely still a sore spot), but perhaps one day you could.
"You're welcome," Hange nodded. "I forgot to ask— did you get the chance to finish the book I lent you?"
She nodded to the book at your bedside, which had followed you to the infirmary and back to the barracks.
"I did," you nodded, your lips lifting into a smile.
Hange gasped.
"Tell me what you thought!" she asked, almost bursting from the seams from excitement. "I didn't expect her brother to be the perpetrator! Did you?"
"I was a little suspicious of him, but not enough to think he did it," you said, recalling the book's details. "I was surprised when they found the last piece of evidence."
"I know— who would've thought that the fibers came from his shirt?" said Hange, throwing herself backward in excited exasperation. She draped herself over your shins, shy of where your primary injury was— but you were still aching. You gasped in surprise. Hange shot up, staring apologetically. "Oh, I'm sorry— I didn't mean to hurt you."
"No, it's fine," you dismissed, the brief pain already subsiding. "It just surprised me. That's all."
You couldn't wait to be better.

That afternoon, you left the barracks to get some fresh air— and everyone else was wandering around campus. The only people missing were the squad leaders, who were likely having a meeting (thus, leaving everyone else with some time to themselves).
