Chapter 1 - The Beginning

[Girl] Happy Valentine's Day! This is for you.

[Boy] *stares at it for a while* What's this?

[Girl] Open it.

The boy was hesitant but took the gift and tore the wrapper off.

[Boy] What is this?

[Girl] Just check it out.

There was a letter in the box. It read:

To whom it may concern:
Dear Tyler,
I know I'm probably too late, but I really like you. No, I love you actually. Pretty much since the beginning. I know you are super shocked right now, but I'm very serious about this. If you don't like me too, I get it. But I just want us to be friends. I had to gather up all the courage I had to say this, and I hope you understand me.

Love,
Amber

By the time he lifted his head when he was done reading, she was gone.

[Tyler] Such a sweet girl. I wonder why she left.

He entered his car with his eyes still on the letter. He didn't understand how someone like her could ever love him. She was known as the kindest girl in school. He was no where near that reputation. He was the school's heartthrob and the most popular jock at school. Not to mention a member of the school bullies. He was also a constant D student. And he had a girlfriend who was the head of the school's dance club.

He decided to talk to her immediately the next day.

When he woke up the next morning, he rushed through everything and got to school early. As soon as he got out of his car, he saw her face. Her sweet face. She was walking on the campus with her friends, smiling and greeting everyone who passed by. Such a sweet girl, Tyler thought and felt awkward when he realized that he said the same thing the previous day. He rushed up to her just as she was about to enter the building.

[Tyler] Hey

[Amber] Hi

[Tyler] I read your letter; it was so sweet.

[Amber] Oh umm...yeah

[Tyler] Yeah so umm...

[Amber] Uhh...you know I meant everything I said in the letter right?

[Tyler] You did?

[Amber] Yeah, I really like you. You're so sweet and talented and cute and talented...

[Tyler] I'm that talented?

Both of them laughed.

[Tyler] But how can you like someone like me? I'm like the biggest jerk in school. And you know I have a girlfriend right?

[Amber] How can you even say that? You're not a jerk. You're a nice guy. I see it inside you even when you try to hide it.

She tried to avoid the part about his girlfriend, but Tyler didn't even realize it. Instead, he smiled.

[Amber] That's why I like you.

[Tyler] But-

[Amber] *puts her finger on his lips* Shh. You're perfect. Just the way you are.

Amber caressed his cheek and got closer. She was about to kiss him when the bell rang.

[Amber] I gotta get to class. We'll talk later. See you around

[Tyler] Sure

Amber walked off into the distance and turned around to wave at him. He waved back.

Tyler walked of to his class happily. He was going to have chemistry class with Amber later, and he was looking forward to it.
