Chapter 4½ - Ashley's POV

[Chad] Dude, where have you been?

[Amber] Yeah Ty, something is happening, and you really need to see it.

[Tyler] Don't call me that, and what is it?

I had heard a few parts of that conversation. When Chad said he wanted to ask me out, I knew something was odd. Even though I blushed a little ( cuz I've been kinda eyeing him for a few weeks), I still knew something was wrong.

Everything had been wrong from that party. I wished I didn't listen to them. I felt really regretful for breaking up with Tyler. It wasn't really my fault...

As I was thinking about all these things, I received a call from my mother.

[Me] Mum, what is it?

[Mum/Mrs. Crane] Ash, get your bag ready, I'm coming.

[Me] Why?

[Mum] I'm coming to get you

[Me] Why??

[Mum] Ugh .. your dad's in the hospital

I was in a state of complete shock. Hospital? How? Why?

[Mum] I don't know how it happened. Your aunt called and said it.

[Me] Omg

[Mum] I'm coming to pick you up so get to the entrance.

[Me] Okay, I'm coming.

I ran to the entrance after picking up my bag. Mum got there some seconds later and picked me up.

[Me] Oh I hope dad's okay.

[Mum] I hope so too honey. But something else is happening.

[Me] What?!

I was wondering what else was happening. Was the hospital that dad was in burning down? Were we about to explode in the car at this very moment? The thought made me shiver.

[Mum] Well... recently your aunt and her husband have been behaving strange.

I got so annoyed. When I thought it was something serious...

I kinda lost it and yelled at mum.

[Me] Mum! I! Don't! Care!! Dad is in the hospital right now, and I don't wanna know anything about aunt Ana and her lousy husband!

Mum was quiet for a while, and I was sure I had hurt her. I muttered a little apology and she nodded and went on.

[Mum] Honey, it's about...our finances.

[Me] I'm listening

[Mum] Well, Ana and Chappelle, they came over today, and they broke a vase in the house and they were like, 'we paid.' Then they used everything in the house anyhow they wanted and they were like, 'we paid.' It was so weird.

[Me] What? That doesn't make sense.

[Mum] I feel like they're trying to push us off their back. In terms of, you know, money.

What! The! Hell!! They couldn't do that!

[Me] B-but we had a deal!

[Mum] I know, but Ana has never been fair. We have to start selling some stuff so that we can start over. Or better still get you engaged to Tyler ASAP.

I gulped. She didn't know we broke up yet for some reason...

[Me] Uhh... yeah mum, about that, umm...we-

[Mum] We are here. Let's go.

We rushed into the hospital and mum went to the registration to ask for dad. Suddenly my phone rang. It was Amber.

*Phone call
[Amber] Hey Ash, I need to tell you something really quick.

[Me] Umm...sure. What's up?

[Amber] My parents have bad intentions towards yours. The money they're giving your parents is fr-

[Me] Hey Amber, I'll call you later.

[Amber] No Ash listen to me, don't you dare hang up on m-

*Phone call end

Mum had this worried look on her face. Whatever Amber wanted to tell me could wait.

[Me] Mum, are you alright?

[Mum] They said...there's no one here with the name Dave Crane.

[Me] What? Does this mean dad isn't here?

[Mum] Hold on, I'm gonna call Ana.

Mum left me alone at the entrance of the hospital. I tried to call Amber to make her continue with what she was saying. Her phone was dead. I guess that's why she was in a hurry to talk to me. Later, mum came back with a stern look.

[Me] What's going on?

[Mum] We need to get home. Ana pulled a prank on us.

[Me] What? Why would she do that?

[Mum] I was right. She's kicking us off.

We went home; only it wasn't a home anymore. Aunt Ana and her evil husband had the house burned down. Everything was on fire.

[Me] My clothes, my books, my makeup, my everything...

Suddenly dad walked up to us. I rushed to hug him.

[Me] Dad, everything is gone!

[Dad] Nothing is gone. I figured this was coming. Every time you guys go out, which you do often, I send some people to come take stuff in bits to our new house.

[Mum] Wait, new house?

[Dad] Like I said, I knew this was coming. I saved up enough money to strengthen our business and now our company is back on track. I bought a new house and everything is there. We don't need to rely on these people anymore.

[Me] OMG dad I love you! You're literally the best dad ever!

[Dad] I did it for you.

We entered the car and drove to the new house. And I'm not exaggerating when I say it looked like a celebrity mansion. Not like the ones you see on TV, like the real, huge ones.

[Mum] How much was it?

[Dad] About $18,000

[Me] Are you serious?! This is literally the best day of my life!

I promised, here it is, the chapter before Monday. Now I will take my leave to study. I really don't wanna fail this exam. It's like my life 😭😭😭😭.

Okay, maybe most of my life, but still! I placed 5th best last semester and I don't wanna go down again or my dad will kill me.

Anyway isn't it weird that the first thing Ashley thought about when the house was on fire was her clothes and makeup?

I couldn't stop laughing at that side. I mean the first thing I would think of would be...my wardrobe. Okay I relate to her. I wouldn't like my clothes to burn.

Yeah, I should be studying right now. Byee!!!
