Chapter 6 - Results

Tyler's POV
Now I was stuck. I tried to remember what Amber told me that morning. Then I explained everything to Ashley. When I was done, she wasn't that surprised.

[Ashley] I knew her parents had bad intentions towards my parents. What I didn't know was that they threatened to cut Amber off if she didn't do what they said. I can't believe them! They're monsters!

Ashley was really annoyed. I used one hand to steer the wheel and used the other to rub her back. She pushed my hand off, grinning.

[Ashley] Pervert

[Me] That's your back, not your bust.

[Ashley] Whatever. You will be the one to talk to her. Drop me off at home.

Then Amber woke up. She didn't say anything. I dropped Ashley off and she mouthed, 'Kiss her good night when you drop her off.' and I mouthed, 'Fine, good night then.'

She gave me a glare, then I got out and hugged her; whispering in her ear.

[Me] I hope this is okay, 'carina'.

[Ashley] *hits me* I know Spanish dummy.

I let her go and she walked into her house.

When I dropped Amber off, she tried to get out on her own but I stopped her. I got out and opened the door for her. She walked past me but I grabbed her arm.

[Me] Amber, can we talk?

[Amber] Okay...

[Me] What's wrong? You seemed really shocked after the incident at the mall.

[Amber] Well... I...

[Me] Please open up

[Amber] That guy - he...he looks like the guy in the picture

[Me] The picture? Which picture?

[Amber] A few months ago, there was this earthquake and all of my dad's items got scattered. My parents weren't home, so I decided to pack them up. Then I saw an adoption paper of me.

[Me] So you're -

[Amber] -yes. Then I saw a picture. It was a picture of my parents and an unfamiliar boy. It was him. I wanted to ask my parents but-

[Me] Have you found your real parents? Tell me

[Amber] I - I was able to afford a DNA test. I got a strand of hair from my mother's brush and my dad got hurt the same day. I got his blood sample and paid a lab technician to do it. A few days later I got the results and-

[Me] And?

[Amber] They're not my parents. I-

[Me] Oh my goodness

[Amber] I told Ashley about it and she suggested that we should do a DNA test with each other. We sent our samples for the test. Weirdly enough, it turns out that we're related.

[Me] Wait, what? How is that possible?

[Amber] I don't know. I-

[Me] Her aunt is not your mother, yet you and her are related?

[Amber] After a lot of investigation, she was able to get a sample of her parents DNA. We came to one conclusion.

[Me] And that is...

[Amber] It's possible that umm.... Ashley and I are sisters.

My heart was pounding. They were sisters? But how?

[Me] You're kidding.

She gave me a glare.

[Me] You're not kidding. But hold on, i don't get it.

[Amber] The DNA test results are coming in either today or tomorrow.

[Me] Okay...

I remembered what Ashley had said. I couldn't help it. I closed the distance between us and kissed her hard. She seemed shocked but she kissed me back. Suddenly she let go. She looked pale for a while and took a step back. However she tripped and I grabbed her by her waist.

[Amber] This isn't right. We broke up, this isn't right.

[Me] But-

[Amber] Goodbye Tyler

She walked into her house and I went into my car. The rest of the day I kept thinking about that kiss. Later, when it was getting late, I decided to call her.

I called her several times but she didn't answer. Then Ashley called me, but when I picked it, it was Amber's voice i heard.

[Me] Amber?

[Amber] Tyler the results are out

[Me] What do you mean, the DNA test results?

[Amber] Yes! Ashley and I are sisters!

[Me] Oh my God! Seriously?

[Amber] Yes!

[Me] Wow!

[Amber] Also, her- wait no- my real parents know, and they hired a private investigator to look on this case. He came in a few hours ago and-

[Me] And?

[Amber] My fake parents are fraudsters. They stole me at birth and paid the doctor to lie that I had died.

[Me] Oh...

[Amber] They've taken them into custody for now, but tomorrow they will go to court

[Me] Wow

[Amber] So...

[Me] About the kiss, I-

[Amber] I'll call you tomorrow.

[Me] Umm... okay-

[Amber] Cool, bye!

She hung up. She probably didn't want to talk about it. Anyway I was so happy for her.

I've been a little busy nowadays cuz my spring break will be over soon and I'm packing stuff.
