Chapter 13 - Fakes and Liars

Amber's POV

It had been two weeks since the incident with my biological mum, Milicent Miller. I met her husband (my dad) and her other daughter who was five years older than me. Much to my shock, they accepted me. They must have really loved me when I was young. They explained to me that at birth, the doctor told them I died.

I often spoke to my sister Meghan. It seemed that everyone had an 'M' beginning their names, because dad's name was Michael. And they wanted to name me Marjorie. Wow.

Tyler and I had a successful relationship and we were able to graduate together. Ashley was very shocked when she found out about my new family. She went crazy, but I didn't mind. I thanked her parents and left.

Nikita and I became the best of friends and she finally broke up with Logan when I made her listen to the recording. Everything was going so well.

Until one day...

Meghan, Nikita and I went to the local grocery store. I excused myself to the bathroom and told them to carry on without me. I was just fixing up my hair when I saw someone behind me.

[??] Well hello there, 'Amberella'.

[Me] Ashley...

Tyler's POV

I was chilling in my backyard when I received a phone call. It was Meghan, Amber's biological sister.

[Me] Hey Meg, how are you doing?

[Meghan] Yeah Tyler, I'm okay but Amber is missing.

[Me] What?

[Meghan] She said she was going to the bathroom, but it's been an hour and she hasn't returned. We called multiple times.

Then I heard in the background, "Is that Tyler?" It was Niki.

[Me] Niki! Tell me!

[Niki] Tyler, Amber was just going to the bathroom. We've searched for her for an hour now. We tried calling her but she's not answering.

[Me] Gosh, so what are we gonna do?

[Meghan] We called the cops but they can't find her either.

Then there was silence. A long period of silence.

[Me] Meghan? Niki?

[Meghan] We found her.

[Me] Really, let me talk to her.

[Amber] Hello?

[Me] Babe where were you?

[Amber] Oh uhh...I kinda got lost in the grocery store.

[Me] Oh...but you didn't answer their calls. Why's that?

[Amber] Uhh...I...I left my phone in the bathroom and I had to go back for it. I had no idea.

[Me] Well, okay. Want me to treat you later?

[Amber] Sounds nice. Bye umm...babe.

[Me] Bye

I hung up. Something was strange about her behaviour. I shook it off and prepared for my date with her.

And I knew the perfect meal. Her favourite. Rice and okra sauce.

God knows why she liked it so much.

Later that day, I took her out. She acted a bit atypical but I pretended not to notice. She then excused herself to the washroom while I ordered the food.

By the time she came back, the food had already been served.

[Me] Enjoy, it's your favourite.

[Amber] Thanks Ty.
