Chapter 11 - Skipping School

Tyler's POV

Today was the day the DNA test results were supposed to arrive. The previous days, I had kissed Amber with a total of 36.

It was really nice to have her around, especially when she finally admitted that she loved me.

She said it, she actually said it. Finally.

I went over to her house. Ashley answered the door.

[Me] Are the results in?

[Ashley] No, not yet

[Me] Is Amber in?

[Ashley] Yeah, come in.

[Me] Thanks

I went inside and started shouting Amber's name.

[Amber] Tyler, you're making so much noise. I can't sleep.

She came downstairs with an oversized hoodie and shorts. She rubbed her eyes like a baby.

[Me] Still sleeping at 9 a.m? That isn't you.

[Amber] Well, wouldn't you want me to rest after all the times you kept telling me you love me, and kissing me like 104 times, and taking me on dates and even trying to kill me.

[Me] Chill, I didn't know you were allergic to shrimps.

[Amber] It's cool.

Ashley went upstairs, probably to give us privacy. Amber walked closer to me.

[Amber] Hey

[Tyler] Hi

[Amber] Why are you here?

[Me] I brought something for you.

I took out the rubber bag I was holding and handed it to her.

[Amber] Ha, oysters?

[Me] I figured since our shrimp date didn't go well, I'd bring oysters instead.

[Amber] Thanks, I like it.

[Me] So...

[Amber] Aren't you supposed to be in school?

[Me] I skipped school cuz you weren't there.

[Amber] So cheesy and so stupid. We are graduating in a few weeks. You need to study and pass your tests so that you can graduate.

[Me] We both know that I'm doing really well in my classes.

[Amber] Hm, we'll see

[Me] Why is Ashley not in school?

[Amber] She's sorting some things out in her room, and her life. She needs the day off.

[Me] Cool

[Amber] You know she has not been the same without you.

[Me] Yeah I didn't mean to hurt her,. but I just don't have feelings for her anymore.

[Amber] It's all my fault. I shouldn't have listened to my witch parents.

[Me] Hey, hey, it's fine, you and I are meant to be, okay?

[Amber] No it's not true😏

[Me] I should leave. Call me when the results come out.

[Amber] I will

I pulled forward to kiss her but she hugged me instead.

[Amber] I love you Tyler, but give me time to rest after you gave me shrimp sauce yesterday.

[Me] Kiss me first then I'll leave, and sorry about the shrimp.

She rolled her eyes then kissed me. For like 2 secs. I nodded anyway and left.

I was in my car when Chad called me.

*Phone call

[Me] Hey dude what's-

[Chad] I kissed Ashley.

[Me] Wait what, how? She was at home all this while.

[Chad] I climbed her window, I was confessing to her and then...it just happened. I don't know, I-

[Me] You're supposed to be in school!

[Chad] Bruh so are you. And I planned to tell Ashley my feelings today. When she wasn't in school, I decided to come over.

[Me] Bro are you trying to tell me that you skipped school because of a girl?

[Chad] Uhh...yeah

[Me] Bro you're crazy.

[Chad] You too. Why, you think I don't know that you also skipped school to see Amber?

[Me] You have no proof

[Chad] Your car is here and...

Then someone opened the back door. It was Chad.

[Chad] 'Ello.

[Me] That's a terrible accent, Chad.

[Chad] Typical

[Me] Where are you going anyway

[Chad] Idk. Back to school?

[Me] You're lame, but okay

I started driving and Chad explained everything.

[Chad] So like I came to Ashley's room. And then she came in and froze and got attached to the door. I think maybe her dress was stuck. But she removed it. Then she asked me what I was doing there. I told her my feelings and before I knew it, she was right in front of me. Then I didn't think, and I kissed her. It felt so awkward as she turned around. She - I think she was blushing. I quickly apologised and told her I wouldn't bother her anymore. Then I jumped out.

[Me] Wow, wait bro you mean you told her you wouldn't bother her anymore.

[Chad] I mean yeah.

[Me] She was blushing, you said that

[Chad] There are different types of blushing, this was out of embarrassment dude.

[Me] Uhh...yeah right. Since when did you become 'King of the Blushing Theory'?

[Chad] You mean 'Blushiology'? Real nice Tyler

[Me] You look much better when you're sarcastic.

[Chad] What dude, you like me now

[Me] No of course not. It's Amber all the way.

[Chad] School's here. Bye

[Me] Tell them I'm sick.

[Chad] Oh yeah I'll definitely tell them you skipped school because your girl wasn't there

[Me] Excuse me? What's that you said?

[Chad] I said fine. See ya later.

I drove off once he got down.

I've been thinking of changing the book to more of dialogues than narration.

But I guess it's better this way, or not?
