Lena couldn't really sleep that night and ended up tracing the swirls in the ceiling of her bedroom. She was at six swirls and tossed and turned. Looked at her closet and thought how Kat and her watched a movie that night coming home. She loved those cheesy romances like 'Never Been Kissed' or '13 going on 30'.  They'd made this spicy popcorn by adding paprika to the popcorn along with the butter. But she was back and forth on how to talk to Brandon tomorrow.

She did go on MSN to talk to him but all they did on there was a poke war and then send the annoying message of people that cackle. It was flirting again or maybe he's being playful. But Lena felt dumb for going along with it and for liking it when she didn't really like Brandon as more than a friend. She also saw -ReallyRider- online too and she wanted him to message her but she didn't want to message him and look more pathetic. She'd added him randomly after that jam session at Brandon's and he accepted to which she never understood why.

Lenadraws: "I...wanna tell you something."

TheDon: "is it a good something."

Lenadraws: "I'll tell you tomorrow at school. Ok?."

TheDon: "goodnight Lens."

Lenadraws: "night Brandon."

So that's how Lena ended up in bed wondering what Brandon is expecting her to say. Blaming herself for playing along with the flirting because she just doesn't want to lose him as a friend. She had next to zero friends at this school. She was holding onto a friendship that maybe wasn't even real. But it was already four o'clock am and she knew she needed to force herself to sleep. Anyway she could because it was already tomorrow and it was time to just let it all out there.

Lena said morning to her older sister. It was sad how they'd never really had breakfast with their mom but they did understand and are proud of her being a doctor. But sometimes it just felt like Lena and Kat and it was hard to go from sisters to this sudo mother/daughter dynamic the sisters had. But Lena let go of how she missed her mom and went to get ready for school. Kat made a light breakfast of chicken soup and salad. They both ate and headed to the door. Lena went for her bus stop and Kat already boarded the public bus for her highschool. Lena thought how awesome it will be to be in highschool. Maybe she will make friends.

When the bus arrived she spaced out and almost tripped up the first of the three steps up the bus. She was so anxious about today and tired because she genuinely did not want to lose Brandon as a friend. When she arrived with the rest of the kids at school she thanked Glen the bus driver whom she sometimes exchanged a hello and a goodbye. Glen was a grandfather type with his cardigan and khaki pants with loafers and bald head. But he was nice and chipper. She appreciated him being nice to her.

Lena went into school and filed into the classroom and saw that Rider wasn't at his desk and everyone giggled knowing he was going to be held out. Then everyone heard from the door to class. Rider and a teacher fighting and her telling him to wait through the anthem and announcements. He told her he was only a minute late and didn't want to have to go to the principals office but she had none of it. Finally allowed into class after standing in the hallway through announcements and the anthem. Rider came in and everyone's eyes were on him.

Giggles and jokes about his alarm clock sleeping in. Lena was in and out and desperately needed to sleep and she felt her resolve to stay awake waning. Brandon poked her with the tip of his pencil to wake her slightly and she thanked him for it. She didn't know which subject they were even on and before she knew it it was lunch break.

"Brandon can we talk." Brandon looked at her and smiled and asked her if it's about the something she wanted to tell him. Lena said yeah but that she thinks they should go somewhere more private and so he smiled and they got up and headed to the gym which was empty this time around. They both made it seem like they were going to the bathroom since the boys and girls changing rooms and bathrooms are connected to the gym. Rider looked at them both leaving and wondered what they were upto. Someone said that maybe they'll hook up and that it would make sense. Rider didn't think that was it and saw that nervous expression on Lena's face. He dropped it and decided he wouldn't follow them. This wasn't his business. She wasn't his problem.

At the gym they both leaned against the white painted smooth brick wall. Brandon just waited for Lena to start the conversation. She seemed very serious about this. Lena sighed and smiled and began talking about how awesome being friends was and Brandon thought for sure she was making a move until she said.

"So what I'm saying is I love being friends....just friends."

Brandon was shocked and didn't get this because she flirted back with him over msn and she did seem nervous with him. He thought for sure she wanted more like he did but instead he was being friend zoned. Brandon didn't know how to respond but saw how sad she looked. Lena thought about this a lot and it showed on her face.

"Oh..I..I understand and I'm fine with being just friends,Lens."

Lena smiled and jumped into a hug thanking him for getting it. Brandon truly was fine with being just friends....for now. So they both started heading to class and were laughing like normal but someone did over hear them. And he was going to keep this information to himself. Rider didn't need to know and maybe this will mean he has a shot. Damien headed to class and sat down.
