Just Enemies (Original Story)

WTF!?

Kat was furious when Viktor explained it all and asked her little sister what she was thinking. What was wrong with her and Lena had nothing to respond with. Just tears with the fear of now needing to have a meeting with her parents and the principal also the guidance counsellor. Lena knew what she did was wrong with cutting class for this long but it felt wrong that she would be punished.

"Look at me Squirt!."

"What Kat!."

"What the fuck were you thinking? Actually!."

"I wasn't"

"Clearly."

"Listen Kat I already yelled and now you have but how about-."

"Don't start playing dad now."

"KATARINA MIROSLAV I AM YOUR FATHER AND I WILL NOT STAND FOR THAT ATTITUDE."

"SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN A FATHER TO EITHER OF US."

Suddenly without thinking Viktor slapped Katarina across the cheek not hard but the slap on its own was bad and abusive. Tears welled up and both Lena and Kat began pushing him out of the loft before the first I'm sorry could come out of his mouth. He was pushed out and the door locked behind him,he felt disgusted with himself but on the other side of that locked door. Neither Kat nor Lena spoke and when Lena reached for her sister, Kat pushed her hand away and went to her room. Lena didn't understand how all of this happened and was it all her fault.

When Lena's mom came home she was tired but she sat down with her daughter and explained her disappointment. She told her how Viktor left her a message and this is how she finds out. Lena just sat at the table in the chair wishing she could vanish. Fade into nothingness. Her mom was exhausted and told her to go get ready for bed and what time they all needed to be at the school tomorrow. Lena told her mom about what happened with Kat and their dad. Lena's mom was shocked at hearing how it all escalated and said she'd ask Kat about it and then go to bed.

Lena heard whispers from the other side of her door. But she forced herself to sleep and with the help of some of the melatonin her mom kept in gummy form it was easier. In the lull of her nightmares she saw a thousand faces waiting to mock her,poke her,prod her and humiliate her. Lena felt anger surging and for some reason she was more determined than ever to prove these faces wrong. To prove her classmates wrong. A small fire was lit inside her.

Lena woke up early and decided to make breakfast for her mom and her sister. She already got herself prepared for this ambush from the school and wanted to at least start the day off right. Lena even made a Cesar salad for Kat as it was her favourite.
When Kat got up followed by their mom, a pleasant surprise washed over Kat. Both Kat and Ana smiled at the spread Lena made with simple beacon and eggs. Some salad and orange juice Lena had shown them the care they give her. Kat told Lena to tell the school about all of the bullying and Lena's mom told her that she had her back. This was going to go well and as the ticking of the clock counted closer to eight o'clock. Lena's heart rate increased but she had her mom and Kat. Ana explained that Viktor would meet them at the school and present a united front.

Kat left first then Lena got in her mothers white Jeep and they made their way down to the school. The principal was stern with both of Lena's parents and explained how she could be expelled for this. The guidance counsellor explained how this outburst of rebellion could be a sign of issues in the home but Lena knew that wasn't all it.

"It's issues at school!."

"What was that Miss.Miroslav?."

"I have been bullied for awhile and the teachers know it and so does Miss.Fletcher!."

"I-I haven't been made aware of-."

"You didn't need to because you see it! Everyday YOU SEE IT."

"Miss.Miroslav do not raise your voice-."

"Don't tell my daughter to not raise her voice. We will raise hell and sue this hole in the wall place you call a school. I only learned a fraction recently of what my daughter experienced-."

"Mr.Miroslav..."

"Viktor is right! Our daughter is the victim and only skipped school because the school made her feel unsafe. You've failed in your responsibilities as teachers and educators."

"Ms.Miroslav-."

Once Lena's parents got started they wouldn't stop. And by the end the principal apologized on behalf of the school. He said she was more than welcome back to her classes starting tomorrow and that they would hear her concerns about any future bullying issues. Once out of the office and out of the school there was a hug from both her parents but her mother was still mad and rightfully so about yesterdays events. Viktor didn't push and understood her ire.

Lena headed with her mom toward the Jeep with a plan to stop off for some take out for dinner. When she saw the doors flood open and realized it was recess when she saw Brandon looking at her and he was pissed. Lena knew that he probably heard about her skipping what with all the side glances from gossiping classmates. Lena wanted to go and talk to him but she was more afraid of what he would say to her. That's when someone else looked her way with as much anger as Brandon. Rider looked at her to Lena's shock he was just as angry. She had no idea why but before she could even return the dirty look. Rider went back to tossing the football toward Dom.

"Is that Lena!?."

"Guess so."

"She got caught huh?."

"Was bound to happen."

"I heard she was expelled."

"Shut up Dom."
