The next morning felt heavy with Lena being too exhausted to even move so she didn't. She stayed in bed and turned on the tv and started watching some pointless tv show about imaginary friends. One character looked like a blue oven mitt in fact maybe it was just and anthropomorphic oven mitt.
"Hey are you up to getting out of bed?"
"I have the week off...I don't even want to move out of bed.."
"Oh well I have to go back to school, I came here on my lunch to see you. I brought you a sandwich.."
"Thanks Kat."
"Just..at least brush your teeth."
"Drive safe Kat."
Kat left and put the sandwich on the table closest to the door. This would involve movement and so Lena got up and walked over then heard a knock at the door. She thought maybe it was Kat back to harass her but checked the cameras to see Brandon.
He wasn't supposed to be here so why was he but Lena had wanted to talk to him again to reaffirm their friendship status. So she opened the door and Brandon came in and shouted her name and hugged her so right she felt her circulation cut off somewhat.
"Brandon... can't breathe..."
"Oh! Sorry! I just...I am sorry I wasn't there..."
"Brandon..."
They looked and he came in and Lena shut the door. Brandon had also brought Lena her schoolwork and also her favourite vanilla latte. She smiled and thanked him and he told her he would help her with the homework but she asked him if he needed to go back to school. He smiled and said that the teacher said he was given a pardon and that since he's on the honour roll that he didn't need to stay.
"Come on in."
Brandon saw Lena's room for the first time and with the pink heart curtains and the evanescence, avril,Jojo posters that were hung was also purple bedding with a fuzzy purple accent blanket that was unmade. Lena was in a grey tshirt that was baggy and boxer shorts. Clearly with bed head and puffy eyes.
"My desks there but I'll be right back. I'm hungry and wanna eat that sandwich but I haven't brushed my teeth."
"Sure I'll be here."
Brandon sat down and her desk had four drawers and was white with a comfy grey swivel chair. Brandon peeked and saw that she had pictures of herself and family as her screensavers.
"That's Bertha."
"Whose Bertha?."
"My fat computer since she has the big backside."
"Haha great name."
"It's poetic."
"So wanna get started?."
"Let's move to the bed since I only have one chair."
"Oh..sure."
"Brandon...we're cool right...friends."
"Yeah! Yeah! All good."
As they both sat down Lena and Brandon got down to business and with him tutoring her she breezed through. She even helped him in history which was his worst subject. He told her he only got a B and she laughed that that was his worst subject. With the past two days lessons and homework caught up on. Lena asked him if wanted to eat or drink something and he said he was fine with a soda and maybe some fruit.
"Coming up."
Lena came in with a Sunday for two and some water. Brandon asked why the change and she said it was a thank you and she even put some of her moms cookies in crumb form to add flavour. She knew he wasn't found of too much sweets so she went with water.
"Thank you Lens."
"I should be thanking you...you saved me from being an idiot when I come back in a few days."
"Naw I just missed you."
"You're the only one."
"Do you want to talk abou-."
"NO..no I um..im supposed to start therapy anyway over all these incidents so I'll talk about them with the shrink.."
"Oh..that's great I sometimes see a therapist well a counsellor whenever I feel overwhelmed with school stuff."
"Yeah..I promise I'll talk about it with them.."
"I am here too."
"I know."
"Okay so what do you wanna do now?."
"I wanna kick your butt at Tekken? Or how about crash bash!."
"I like crash bash."
"Let's go soo I can OWN you."
Lena and Brandon just laughed and played a few rounds and when they both felt hungry. They finished the slush Sunday and Lena for the first time just relaxed and leaned on Brandon's shoulder. He smiled and told her he would cheat if she fell asleep and dominate her in the game.
"You wouldn't dare."
"Wouldn't I."
"Thanks man"
"What for?."
"Being here."
"No need to thank me."
"But I will."
Brandon smiled and Lena saw the dimple and she smiled back while looking into his hazel eyes and felt safe. They went back to playing games and when Lena crawled into bed Brandon took off and told her to move around. She smiled and drifted off into a deep afternoon nap.
