Chapter Two

Lilah

I awake from my deep slumber and I see one of the Charming Prince's hands in mine as he's quietly sleeping.

Thorns cover the dark room. It looks like my old bedroom but I can't quite remember.

   My mind is foggy.

   How did I get here?

"Lilah!" my mother shouts as she sees me walking from my bedroom to the dining room.

"Good morning, Mom," I say and pull her into a hug.

She's wearing a beautiful, long, gown. It's a deep maroon with gold accents that complement her naturally wavy brown hair. It's done up in braids and she looks stunning as usual. Our kingdom isn't called Beauty Kingdom for no reason.

"Let's get some breakfast," she says as she pulls away from the hug. She motions for one of the servants to pull out a chair for her and she sits down. Another servant brings out our breakfast. Warm eggs, smoky bacon, and fluffy pancakes.

   My favorite.

The smell of our meal slowly brings in the rest of our family. Finn, one of my brothers, storms in looking disorderly. His light brown hair is messy and he's still in his pajamas. That doesn't stop him from pulling out a chair and gobbling down his pancakes though. Ivy, my only sister, who is quite the opposite of Finn, eats very slowly and politely, she's the definition of the perfect princess.

My youngest brother, Milo, is nowhere to be found. He's most likely still in bed or isn't home in the castle because he had an eventful night with a girl. Since he's the third-born sibling, he doesn't have to worry about his reputation as much as I do. He can sleep with whoever he wants without a care in the world, so he does. It's safe to say Milo is the Fairy Tale World's ultimate womanizer.

My father, King John, isn't in sight either, he usually doesn't spend time with us, his family, unless he has to.

"So this evening we will be going to the Charming Kingdom for dinner. Queen Ella invited us," Mom says and looks at me. She really wants me to get married to one of the Charming boys, Archie in particular, and I'm sure her best friend Queen Ella wants the same. "Now if someone can round up Milo and let him know, that'd be much appreciated," she continues and sighs.

The day goes on and it's filled with nerves yet also excitement. I haven't seen my boyfriend, Prince Archie, in a few weeks and I think tonight's the night. I think he's gonna propose. We've been together for years now and the time seems right.

I picked out a lovely pale pink dress, it's my favorite. The dress is sleeveless, yet classy.

I leave my pin-straight hair down and it flows all the way down my back. Archie loves it when I leave my hair down. Its light brown color goes really well with the dress. I hope it's enough for Archie to get down on one knee.

"Oh Lilah, you look gorgeous," Ivy says as she peeks into my room.

I motion for her to come in and look at her. "You do too. Wow, Ivy." I say as I admire her dress. It's baby blue and fits her slim body very well.

   She's grown up too fast.

I take her hand and we meet the rest of the family downstairs.

Our carriage awaits us and the two sorrel horses pulling it look miserable. I've always loved horses and I'd much rather ride them to the Charming Kingdom than have them pull us for miles, I'm sure their backs are hurting.
