Chapter Twenty-Nine
Goldilocks
The six of us are sitting down and eating dinner. Cameron, Hansel, Gretel, Alice, and I. And of course, the bitch, Rapunzel.
I almost didn't recognize her with her new haircut. The last time I saw her, her hair was twenty feet long, now it's all gone and she's practically bald.
"So why are you here?" I finally ask her.
"Well, Esme caught me with my fiance, Milo. She was so upset that she chopped my hair off and poofed me to the middle of the Enchanted Forest with her magic. Cameron saw me walking and has let me stay here ever since."
I can't be mad at Cameron for saving a lost girl in the woods, but of all people, it just had to be her.
"Rapunzel's cool but she's not as great as you, Goldi. We missed you!" Gretel says cheerfully.
Cameron gives her a stern look while Hansel and I laugh. I knew I liked Gretel.
Dinner continues and the bitch goes on and on about how much she misses Prince Milo. I'm appalled by how much his charm has gotten to her. When I was his maid, he was an absolute nightmare to work for. Maybe they actually do belong together.
A whiny bitch and a dumbass prince.
Yeah, I can see it.
"So what have you been up to this entire time?" Cameron asks me.
I've done so much these past few months without him, but I don't spare a single detail. I explain how I was a maid in the Beauty Kingdom.
"I was with King Nicholas when he died. Such a tragedy," I say. "And then I worked for your little friend Milo," I say to the redhead and roll my eyes.
"Did he say anything about me?" Rapunzel perks up.
"Um, no. He was a pain in the ass to work for though," I reply.
"Are you sure he didn't mention me once?" she asks again.
"I'm positive he didn't mention you. He did go on and on about his favorite ex-girlfriend though. Princess Brielle," I say.
Rapunzel's face falls. "Who's Brielle?"
I continue to explain about my time as a maid in Wonderland, how I went back to save Alice, and then tell Rapunzel about her competition, Brielle. I don't mention anything about the baby because the kids are here, but I smile to myself knowing how shocked Rapunzel would be if I did tell her.
"So, what are your plans now?" Hansel asks me in his newly deep but squeaky voice.
"I'm not sure," I lie.
I know what I want though. I want to stay here with Cameron.
We finish dinner and the kids get ready for bed. Alice and Gretel have gotten along so well and I couldn't be happier.
Rapunzel takes the couch for the night, leaving me and Cameron alone in his room.
"Are you sure you want me to sleep next to you?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes. "Of course I do."
I nod and get under the warm sheets. I've missed this. I've missed him.
