Chapter Seventeen
Brielle
The sun is rising and I wake up to the feeling of puke lurking in my throat. I ran to the bathroom and let it all out.
It's only been a month of knowing that I'm carrying a child. It's been full of early mornings, lots of throwing up, and weird cravings.
I get in the shower to clean up, I always feel gross after puking my guts out. I turn the water on and a weird feeling rushes inside of me. This shower could've been the place where this baby was conceived.
It could've happened in the kitchen, the bed, or even in the courtyard.
Everywhere I look, there's a place where Milo and I have had sex and I hate it. I hate that I let myself get carried away with him.
After I get out of my warm and soapy shower, I wrap my body in a towel and let my hair air dry.
I hear a bang on my window and it startles me. I look down to see a head full of blonde hair. Eddie's staring at the ground and has a rock in his hand. Flashbacks of Milo give me another weird feeling. It's obviously not him so I shake the feeling away.
"Eddie?" I question as I open up my window.
"Hey, Brielle! I'm here for my weekly smoke, thought you'd be up for it this morning," I roll my eyes at the remark, he knows I can't smoke while I'm pregnant and he, just like everyone else, has been rubbing it in my face.
I tell Eddie that I'll be down in just a minute and grab an outfit. A basic white shirt and a cute floral skirt that shows off my legs. With the baby on the way, I know I'll be gaining some weight soon so I'm trying to look good before it happens.
"Here's breakfast," I say to Eddie and hand him a bag of crushed mushrooms when I make my way downstairs.
"I thought I'd get some of your cooking today," he says and laughs.
"I guess I can cook for you. Everything makes me sick though, the only thing I've been eating lately is fish and strawberries," I laugh and shake my head at the ridiculous combination of food my body craves.
Eddie takes out a joint and begins to smoke. The horrid smell of the mushrooms brings Queen Charlotte and Prince Callan into the kitchen and they join in.
"Eddie, you are more than welcome to stay all the time," Mom slurs out.
"Yeah, you're so much better than Milo," Callan contributes.
I roll my eyes. I mean they're not wrong but when the two of them are together and high, it's just embarrassing.
"Speaking of Milo, he came to the castle last night and tried to talk to you. You were already asleep so I told him to come back tomorrow," Mom says.
"What?" I yell at her. "How could you let that monster step foot into our castle?"
"Look, Bri. He was a lot calmer than usual and seemed like he actually wanted to talk," she argues back, but I'm not buying any of the bullshit Milo said to my mother. "I told him if he caused any harm to you, it's off with his head," she continues.
I know she's not joking around because I've seen that woman behead more people than I can count.
I calm myself down by grabbing fresh strawberries and joining the trio of smokers.
