"I'll ride with Dustin," you say, setting your bike down. You'll be able to get it tomorrow or some other time. You pull your hood over your head, ready to face the rain.

Dustin grins. "Hop on!"

You sit on the back of Dustin's bike. It's a bit of a tight fit, but you both manage. You take off your headphones and put them into your backpack.

"Ready?" Dustin looks behind at you.

"Good to go. Thanks so much for the ride," you say.

Dustin starts pedaling the bike.

The two of you turn a corner of the street and are headed for your house, driving along the path next to the woods.

You look along the road and see a shadowy figure running through the woods. It doesn't look like a deer or wildlife, and it's really fast.

"Whoa. Wait. Stop." You gesture to Dustin. "I think I saw something. . ." You step off his bike.

The rain is still coming down on top of you, and Dustin seems to want to get home quick.

"Are you sure?" He gets off his bike, setting it down slowly.

You walk towards the woods.

"Hey, whoa!" Dustin slowly trails after you.

You open your backpack and take out your flashlight. Flicking it on, you shine it deeper into the woods, though you can't see very far due to the rain.

"Are you sure you saw something?" Dustin asks you.

You flick your flashlight back off, not having seen anything. "Maybe I didn't. . .Sorry, my brain must've been playing tricks on me."

Dustin nods. "It's been a long day. Let's just get home."

You nod, and the both of you continue on to your house.

Not long afterward, you can hear branches rustling behind your bike. You turn your head to look and see a waving tree branch, startled by movement. Something must have been there, and recently.

You turn a corner to see another shadowy figure, though can't get a good enough glance. It was just a deer or something, you try to convince yourself. You don't want to bother Dustin by getting off the bike again, so you sit and wait while he turns the bike onto your block. The rest of the ride passes uneventfully.

He drops you off at your house, and you thank him profusely for letting you ride on his bike.

He looks rather wet in the rain, and you wonder if you made the right decision in taking the ride.

He bikes away, and when you can no longer see him, you hear a rustling coming from the bushes of your house.

You try to convince yourself it's a rabbit, but something's telling you it's not. You feel around for your flashlight in your backpack, wondering if you should investigate, or just go inside
