"I'll just walk home alone, it's fine," you say, picking up your bike to walk it home.

You pull your headphones up over your ears and pull the hood of your hoodie up over your head. A new song has started playing on your walkman. . .

You let yourself drift away as you wave to the party and start pushing your bike home, holding your flashlight out as you go.

It's a slow-going at first, and you're drenched in rain within the first few minutes, but soon enough, you get into a steady enough rhythm.

You're about halfway to your house, when you hear a rustling in the woods behind you. You turn to look, flashlight in hand, but see nothing. Funny.

You convince yourself it was just your brain playing tricks on you after the long game of D&D, and continue on your way home.

You can't make it more than a few hundred feet, when the rustling starts again, worrying you.

You wonder if you should go into the woods and stop it, but convince yourself it's probably just a wild animal or something. You wouldn't want to run into that, would you?

You start to walk again, but can't get the rustling sound out of your head and aim your flashlight back at the woods.

You can't see anything, due to the rain, and wonder if you should go into the woods to try to figure out what's happening. But that would be stupid, wouldn't it? You take a step closer to the woods, before stopping.

Before you can take any action, you slip on a puddle of water and scrape up your knee on pavement, ripping through your jeans. The cut begins to bleed, and you know you need to get it cleaned soon.

The whimpering and rustling suddenly stops. You turn to the woods, flashlight in hand, wondering if you should look to go see why the rustling stopped, or rush home and get as far away from the situation as possible.
