A crowded bar in New York City was the last place Emilia wanted to be especially after learning who her father was.

She'd much rather be sitting on her couch in the apartment wearing fuzzy socks and watching Jeopardy with Natasha while Clint ordered takeout for the third time that week because they forgot to buy groceries again.

Hell, she'd even rather be in Mystic Falls, pretending not to know that Jeremy smoked weed in his bedroom when he thought everyone was asleep. Some nights she was tempted to tell him to share.

Then she always remembered she worked for the government and quite literally couldn't without the risk of getting fired.

Emilia sighed and swirled the amber liquid in her glass before throwing it back and wincing lightly at the burn as it went down her throat. She could feel the alcohol in her body, but it wouldn't affect her due to a helpful little spell. . . Since she was technically working.

The only thing she'd found out so far was that there was an illegal fight club under the bar, the man in charge of it owned the whole building, his daughter was a bartender, and that the NYPD was unable to arrest him — due to lack of proof.

Luckily, S.H.I.E.L.D. now had all the needed proof to lock him up.

She set the glass down on the bar and gestured for the bartender. "Another. . . Please." Emilia said, watching the woman closely as she poured the drink.
A sudden presence of a man to her left grabbed her attention briefly before it went right back to the drink that now sat in front of her.

Just as Emilia knocked back that drink, the man beside her ordered two of what she'd gotten. He slid the second glass over to her and she finally looked up at him. She couldn't deny the fact that he was devilishly handsome.

"Thanks. . . You didn't have to do that though. I was pretty content blowing my inheritance." She said with a slight smile, bringing the glass to her lips.
"I'm sure you were, however I couldn't help but notice how you seemed so lonely, little witch."

Emilia's smile faltered slightly and she was thankful for the drink in her hand. Her eyes darted around the surrounding people just to see if anyone heard what she had been called.

As it was so late and most people were absolutely shit faced, nobody seemed to even notice the pair talking.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"I can sense your magic. There's no point in attempting to lie, your heart betrays the truth and I know exactly who you are."

"You're a vampire?" Emilia questioned in a low tone. The man grinned.
"Clever witch, you'll be of great use to me."

"Wait a damn minute, I don't even know who you are and yet you think I'm going to let you willingly use me just because you know who and what I am? I'm sorry, that's hilarious. . . What would even be in it for me, anyways?"

"They call me Klaus. . . If you are loyal to me, you'd be protected and well respected, essentially untouchable." Klaus said.
Emilia hummed as if pondering her choices. Say yes and be a vampire's lap witch or say no and most likely be killed.

She knew which sounded better in her head.

"You are aware loyalty goes both ways, right? If I'm loyal to you and whatever cause you've purposely sought me out for, then I would expect you to be loyal to me as well."

"I'm aware." He ground out and she smiled.

"Aside from family and work schedules, I should be available if you need me." Emilia said, grabbing a pen from her pocket, scribbling her name and number on a napkin.

"Consider this a possible pledge of loyalty, don't make me regret it." She slid the napkin over and pocketed the pen.
