It's dark, as dark as those two girls had said it was. The tunnel stretched a while but we had flashlights so we could see where we were going.
After watching the video of Momoka and Asahi, we had gone out to seek the area they called 'Base'. Where all the game master's would watch and laugh at the poor players struggling for survival.
"This must be it." I get snapped out of my thoughts by Arisu shining a light at the same tracks that the video had shown. We jump down and walk along the rails, our steps echoing throughout the area.
That's when we came across the already open door which Momoka and Asahi had needed numbers to open. "Why is it open?" I try to lower my voice as the echoes make me nauseous.
I turned to Usagi who shrugged her shoulder. The loud squeak of the door made my arms full of goosebumps, something didn't feel right. It was too quiet...
We carry on walking, finally reaching light in a large flat area. Although it was nice to have space, it was a bit too much space and it made me feel nervous. Especially with the fact we couldn't see our surroundings.
We came in view of the once glowing blue computer area that in the video was full of people. We step inside, but... Instead of coming across a room full of sinister laughs, we see the bodies of the game master's spread across the desks.
Lasers had been shot through them. Maybe the one in charge found out about the tape and killed them before we could question anything... "I don't believe it.." Arisu shined his torch onto the bodies one by one.
I put some distance between me and the others as I paced around the room looking upon the files on the desktop. Nothing that interesting caught my eye.
"So you actually found this place." I look to my right at Arisu and Usagi, that voice... I know that voice. I look towards my left to see Kuina and Chishiya come out of another opening.
"I expected no less of you." He had the same smug smile on his face with his hands in his pockets. He turned to face me, "I didn't see you there, but I'm not surprised."
I walked slowly back to Usagi and Arisu as Chishiya walked around my side and Kuina walked around the opposite side. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I question. Of course I am here with those two.
"Long time no see!" I look over at Kuina. Why are they so sketchy all the time. "What's going on?" I hear Usagi next to me. I wish I knew girl, I wish I knew.
Kuina and Chishiya stop in their tracks, opposite sides but not too close to us. "Thanks to you three, I have all the numbered playing cards right here." Of course, no wonder I didn't see him at the fire. He was inside collecting the cards. "Thank you." He lifted up the 10 of hearts card to show us.
I look up to Arisu, "How did you find this place?" He asks Chishiya. I look back over to the crispy looking wig wearing backstabber, he lifts up a piece of paper, "It took me a while, but I figured out that this is actually a map of a subway station." He opens the paper to show us some scribbly lines.
Where did he even get that from? "So what happens when we collect all the cards?" He walks towards us, "I thought coming here would provide me with an answer." He stands next to me and stares at the computers. "But I gotta tell you, I only know one thing."
I don't know if he was going to finish his sentence but I butted in anyways, "So all that nonsense about how one person can leave with all the cards was just some rumoured lie that Hatter made up?" Chishiya shrugs his shoulders and Arisu looks over to us. "These people aren't the game master's, are they?"
"Right. What's pretty clear is they were all killed after our victory." Chishiya replys. "They're just humans like us, and the kicker is..." I butt into his sentence again, "There's somebody higher than them, yeah that's pretty obvious isn't it."
