Though he knows it could bite him in the ass, Dante makes his way back to Devil May Cry. Following him proves to be a challenge. Not expecting him to pull an entire motorcycle out from his hammer space, Jinx bounds from building to building to keep up.
"What is this guy, a demon or something?"
From outside, there appears to be no damage to the shop. Thinking he won't notice, she leaps onto the roof then acrobatically grips onto the ledge and cartwheels inside through an opened window on the second floor. Lucky for her, the facade spares her the deceiving plasma that caused Dante to crash into a fake window.
OOF. She rolls right into him, bouncing off his chest and tumbling to the floor. Knowing she's in trouble, she laughs awkwardly. She's convinced he belongs to Raven. He'll probably scold another magical girl the way he'd scold his own, that's her logic.
"Heh heh, um, hi."
"Wonderful. Listen kid, you need to leave."
The floor collapses. They plummet into a perilous underground terrain.
"Your house sucks," she complains, after managing a decent landing, though it still kinda hurt. Dante, unsurprised by the cave-in, surveys the space, grabs her arm, and keeps her near.
"Stay close, we need to find my sword."
"Where are we?"
An evil slosh of whispering courses through the air, the most dominate one saying...
"Humans, fowl, inferior humans. The city above will soon be ours. A wasteland of corpses will be all that remains of your kind!"
"Hope ya know how to fight," says Dante.
"Psh, I'm a great fighter, easy-peasy," gloats Jinx.
He points a rifle above her head, swings her out of the way, then fires at a grotesque, insect-like devil. Guts fly everywhere.
"Whoa!" she yelps. Another one, behind her. He shoots it. Four more. Jinx joins in, waving a pink, lightning hex in their direction, taking them down.
"Not bad! Maybe you won't be dead weight after all."
"Hey, I just saved your butt. How about a little appreciation?"
He spins his rifle, swapping it for his King Cerberus nunchucks. She can't fathom how he can simply twirl multiple weapons into existence but is so impressed, she forgets he insulted her. He takes her hand. They press onward.
"I think I can take care of myself."
"Not if I mistake you for a devil you can't."
"Do I look like one of those monsters to you?"
"Not really, they're a lot less annoying."
"Rude. Where did those things come from anyway?"
"Somewhere down here."
Light leaves the atmosphere, the walls become narrow as they enter a tunnel.
"Ugh, I'm pretty sure we're not being followed. Let go already."
He does so, knowing she'll regret it. A few paces forward and he's proven correct. She walks right into an invisible wall.
"Grr, what's this stupid barrier doing here?" she scoffs, then waves her hands, removing the blockage with her magic. "There, that's better."
"Whoa-ho-ho! You deleted that thing like it was nothing. Well done! How'd you do that?"
"Oh, my magic easily cuts through fake walls like that. Mastered that move at Hive Academy but it's always been a thing I can do. Glad I'm here now?"
