Villain Monologuing

In Trigon's Library, under the city, I've been using stolen technology to create a database out of every body of text I can find. Making this cryptic pit into my new hideout for two years now, working on this project. I've come to know the literature of the Underworld well.

Since the battle with Trigon, my body has required a new kind of weaponry, ideally, a sword meant for someone... inhuman. From this need, grew my obsession over Devil Arms. How could I get my hands on something powerful, like say, the Sparda or the infamous Yamato I learnt about here in the Hellbrary?

Some time ago, I figured it out.

What I needed, was another portal. And eventually, through much effort, and research, I managed to open a portal of my own to the Underworld, using my personal archive of spells and other magical rituals.

My goal, to steal, what to me, is the most appealing of all swords... Devil Sword Dante. It's power known for combining man with demon, or at least, I'm betting this is still the case, based on my findings.

This is my weapon of choice and in order to get it, I'd have to enter a new portal and kill the weapon's current master. Not an easy feat, Dante's been stabbed many many times. This time would have to be different. Every millisecond would count.

I'd also have to face multiple demons on the way, and maybe even the other Sparda twin, Vergil. I'd have to subdue him if I wanted to kill his brother.

What great work I put into this plan! How devastating it was for every aspect of it to be a success, up until I returned to the Human World, all to have the Devil Sword disappear right out of my hands!

I was livid!

I knew I couldn't risk letting him die after he summoned his sword back to his body. Somehow, he fused with it, maybe even on his last breath. I must have miscalculated. Now I'd have to go all the fuck way back down to the Underworld! Where I found him on the verge of being devoured by devils, which I then had to kill, with no goddamn Devil Sword! Then fireman carry my victim back to the surface and make sure he recovered, so I could try all over again!

In the meantime, I couldn't even hope to steal lesser Devil Arms from him until he awoke and conjured them himself. But when he would finally come to, and find use for his weapons, I'd be ready to ambush him... this time, aiming for the heart, instead of the stomach.

That's when I made the decision to create a fake version of Devil May Cry. And everything was going so well... until the Titans got involved. Had they not intervened, I could have finished Dante off the night he fled from the shop.

I was stalking him, waiting for the right moment to strike. But Robin showed up and ever since then, Dante's either had another Titan by his side, or an ornery demon to fight. Even my attempt to lure him back to the shop by glitching out his sword didn't go as planned, with Jinx coming along and all those demons getting in the way.

Dante's become surrounded by too many friends or too many foes and it's made things take twice as long. The first setback was bad enough! My patience has grown so very thin.

I didn't go through all this, not to acquire that damn Devil Sword. Who else do I need to kill in order to assassinate my actual target? Whose really the one in the way? Raven? Fine. That's another thorn in my side but if that's what it takes, so be it.
