CHAPTER FIFTEEN
As they continued down the road, Violet could feel the exhaustion while sipping on the worst coffee she had ever had, but she needed it. Lily looked at her sister in disgust as Ellie sniffed and exclaimed disgusted,
"Ugh! The fսck is that?"
Violet scoffed as Joel replied,
"You don't like coffee?"
Joel drove and continued to drink his coffee as Ellie still couldn't get over how they could drink it so casually. It smelt terrible.
"Is that seriously what those Starbucks in the QZ used to sell?"
Joel tilted his head and answered smoothly making secret glances at Violet who looked truly exhausted. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen her sleep.
"Well, theirs was a lot fresher than what Bill saved up, but, yeah, this is what they sold."
Ellie boldly exclaimed, making Violet chuckle causing Lily to see the slight smile on Joel's face as he stared at Violet before feeling Lily's eyes and turning away,
"Smells like burnt sh¡t."
Violet rolled her eyes, although cracking a slight smile, Joel desperate for her to stop talking spoke,
"Eyes on the map."
Lily groaned and then both Ellie and her looked at the directions,
"76 west and then... 70 west for, like, ever."
Violet turned to Joel, who looked just as exhausted as she did. Violet asked softly,
"Where in Wyoming did you say your brother was?"
Joel chugged his last bit of coffee before he answered,
"Last contact came through a radio tower close to Cody."
Lily spoke out suddenly, as she dragged her finger along the map trying to find where Cody was. And how fucking long it was gonna take.
"Cody. Cody, Cody. Ah, man. That is deep up in there."
Joel nodded as Ellie questioned, asking a question even Violet wanted to know, what if they didn't find his brother? And where would they go?
