Luz POV

It's 3:00 A.M and I can't sleep. I know the game Audrey is playing, and I fell for it.

I get up and look at myself in the mirror and I look terrible. I've honestly given up on going to sleep.  Willow is a night owl and usually works out after lights out. I walk out the door of my room and turn around to open hers. I slowly open it and she's sleep. What was I thinking? Of course she's sleep. Who works out with no music at three A.M.?

The only thing I could think of to distract me was looking out my window. Bonesborough was a small town, but it was well known. Especially for this college. I loved hearing the faint sound of cars honking and driving, the chatter on the streets, and the cop cars sirens going off. They tickle my ears. In a good way though, not like when it's too loud or too cluttered.

I go to the cupboard and grab the melatonin. I usually don't like "popping pills" but back when I had insomnia these really helped and we have a test in Mr.Greene's class tomorrow that I of course didn't study for.

As I wait for these to kick in I decide to go out into the lobby and sit on the bench. My dad used to go here and was actually enrolled here when I was little. He already had his degree when I was born but he wanted to get "higher education" as he might say. We used to sit on this bench and look up at the stars through the glass ceiling.

Amity POV

I wake up bright and early at 6:00 AM. I want to go to a cafe before school starts to get some coffee. I get freshened up and dressed in around 30 minutes. I head downstairs to the lobby and I look at the bench and someone is sleeping there.

Wait... that's LUZ?

I walk over slowly to make sure it's her and it is. I sit next to her and shake her.

....gimme like five more minutes..

She opens her eyes and jumps up. She starts looking around like she doesn't know where she is.

Oh shoot. I fell asleep here? Wait.. Amity? What are you doing here?

Well I was about to get coffee but I saw you here.

What time is it?

6:38?

God you wake up early.

She finally gets off the bench and I notice her cute pajamas. They have smiley faces all over them and it's a very soft material. I wondered where she got them from but didn't bother to ask.

Well, I better see if willow missed me and then go study since I'm already awake. See ya round blight

I don't know why but she doesn't look like she got much sleep. Now that I think about it she's always tired in class and that's probably why she gets bad grades. I should probably ask.

Hey Luz, wait.

Yeah?

Uhm, why did you sleep here?

Oh, it was an accident. I was supposed to go to sleep on the couch because these dorm beds are too soft for me, but I came down here to look at the stars.

Luz suddenly tenses up, like she remembered something and ran off. She said goodbye of course but she sounded like she did something wrong. I looked at the clock and realized I needed to be quick to get this coffee. I hesitated, but eventually walked out the door, wondering why she got so tense.

I finally run off, remembering what Audrey said yesterday. I don't understand, she's totally fine with me being friends with willow. I mean sure she is dating my brother, which is a long story, but I could hit up on her if I wanted to. I mean, amity and me are cool, but she's gone too far.

I run up the steps and quickly open the door to my dorm room and slam it closed. I couldn't let Audrey see me with her, even though I know she won't do anything. She was definitely bluffing, right?

Sooooooo... I may be back? Idk honestly but I won't post as often as I used to.

I'm going to try and see where this story is going but I have the basic plot down. So the next chap will def be longer.
